At the start of an airline pilots career do they choose the type of (airliner)aircraft they want to fly?
Hi I'm 14 and I was wondering if airline pilots choose what kind of aircraft they want to fly or during training do they have an option to fly the airbus or boeing because I don't think a pilot who flies the boeing 737-800 will fly the airbus A330 the avionics are diffrent and the controls too so they won't really know the aircraft. Thanks :)

When you first start flying, it most likely will be a Cessna or a Piper! The military is the only place you might train in a jet, even then it might be a Cessna built trainer like aT-37. Go over to AOPA or EAA websites to learn the real process. Http://aopa.org/learntofly

Nope. It can cost THOUSANDS of dollars to become fully qualified on a particular model or type of airplane. The company IS NOT going to train you on something else just because you want to do that.
IF you can get a job at all... You'll fly what the company wants you to fly and be happy with it.

(1) No. New-hires never have a choice in the matter.
(2) The airline trains all crew members on the type they will fly.
