Should scientists be allowed to look into cloning as a way of reproduction for families who cannot reproduce?

I would like to know your opinions and why

Thanks in advance

In my opinion, no offense intended, the population of the Earth is growing out of our control every day and any conscious effort to add to that increasing number is only going to exacerbate our problem. I don't believe in surrogate parenting or other forms, but would rather suggest adoption to people who would like to add to their family. While it isn't my business what they do, I do like to remind people in such a position that there are plenty of orphaned children right in their own area that would love to have someone take them in.

Not sure if I answered the question at all.. I guess my real short answer would be to say I think we should keep science out of our child-bearing processes. Sex either creates a child, or it doesn't. So far, tampering with the gene pool with science hasn't helped us. Notice the amount of Autistic and Down-Syndrome cases have increased significantly in recent years? It didn't happen on its own.

There are reportedly health problems, such as arthritis, which have appeared in cloned animals. Therefore, until those kinks are worked out, it is best not to permit human cloning for the time being.

I'm not sure what problem this is supposed to solve. We already have the options of in vitro fertilization, sperm donors and adoption. What problem is solved by cloning that isn't already solved by the existing techniques?
