Quiz: Famous author who was born And died during Halley's Comet?

I posted this recently with only one result. And the Q defaulted to 'Celebrities', dam. It is meant to be an ASTRONOMY question. My answer is Mark Twain. (I think that UFO researcher Hynek died in 1986 when Halley's last returned...) Do you have other interesting tales connected to Comets? Thanks.

Actually, you probably didn't get answers because it's a meaningless question as stated. "During Halley's Comet" actually means "all the time." That's because Halley's Comet is _always_ in the sky, including right now. Currently it's in the constellation Hydra at magnitude 19, so would require a very large telescope. You need to add a qualifier like "while it was close to Earth" or "while it was in the inner Solar System." Many famous authors would qualify, though Mark Twain is the best known, mainly because he talked about the comet in conjunction with his birth and approaching death.

During its 1986 apparition, Halley's Comet became the first to be observed in detail by spacecraft, providing the first observational data on the structure of a comet nucleus and the mechanism of coma and tail formation.

In 1066, the comet was seen in England and thought to be an omen: later that year Harold II of England died at the Battle of Hastings; it was a bad omen for Harold, but a good omen for the man who defeated him, William the Conqueror. The comet is represented on the Bayeux Tapestry as a fiery star, and the surviving accounts describe it as appearing to be four times the size of Venus and shining with a light equal to a quarter of that of the Moon.

After witnessing a bright light in the sky (which most historians have identified as Halley's Comet, visible in Ethiopia in 1456), Emperor Zara Yaqob, ruler from 1434 to 1468, founded the city of Debre Berhan (tr. City of Light) and made it his capital for the remainder of his reign.
