It depends on who you are, and on the circumstances. It certainly seems to be easier for people to bond when they know they're related, but it also isn't a guarantee that they will bond, and obviously some people have much stronger bonds with people they aren't related to.

Genealogy is the study of blood relations.
People who go through something together - college, a war, the Peace Corps - tend to bond. There is at least one Marine with an abusive father and an indifferent mother who is closer to his squad mates than he is to any blood relation.

I mean, you have to think about the people who are adopted. They aren't "blood" really, but they are still family.

It is not blood, never was blood, but DNA. If you do not share DNA with someone, you are not related. Period.

In the research of our ancestry .........yes........... we don't call non blood related people ancestors, they are the wives/husbands ( in law) of our blood related ancestors.............
