How much for Buying and Affording a Car in UK?
Hello,
I am new in UK. I want to buy a car here.. Surely I know about the DVLA. Lets suppose I have the DVLA and I am looking for a car.
What is the cheapest car I can get (used cars)?
And how much its monthly to afford a car in UK, like paying for insurance and stuff, etc?
P.S, I don't travel much, will be using just for traveling to university, etc..
I will appreciate you help,
Kind Regards

Car - about £100 is considered scrap value so prices start from there. If you want a reasonable car that is not too old and is reliable then £1200 to £1500 should do.
Insurance - new UK driver - could be anywhere from £1000 to £10000 depending on so many factors that are too long to go through here.
Running cost - about 30p per mile based on an average of 10000 miles per year

You need a lot of money. First, you need a full driving licence which will take quite a few lessons, then you need to take the theory and practical test. You can get a car fairly cheaply - use ones for under £1000, but the insurance could be over £2000 for a new driver. On top of that you need to make sure the car has tax (On average £135 per year but varies depending on the car) and an MOT (£30 - £50 for the test).

you will need a drivers license. ( overseas are invalid after 6 months) car is cheap enough eg KA . Fiesta.
look at small engined . uncommon cars. no alloy wheels. tinted windows. alterations.
tax and mot is needed. insurance being biggest burden.
this varies factors affecting ist are . age. length of FULL license held. any no claims discount. are we drive in. our occupation. car type. age. model. power. any mods. where kept .when used . any alarms fitted. amount we are willingb to pay in event of an accident etc
average cost for a 20 year old with a full license in Uk is around £2500.
