So how exactly does the second coming of Christ work?
According to the Book of Revelation:
11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war.
How do the heavens open? With a zipper or something?
What is he going to look like? Will he be white? Black? Asian? Aborigine?
What if what we see will be a false prophet? There are lots of those! I'm so confused.

Revelation is an ancient letter written by John to the 7 churches in the Roman province of Asia in the first century. It opens with a declaration that the events described were to happen very soon. Jesus attests to this imminence throughout the letter (soon, near, at hand, quickly)
Can "soon" mean 2 millennia? Are the people in those 7 churches still waiting for Jesus?
If the vision John received was inspired, then it means it must have already happened. The trouble is, we read Revelation as though WE are the people living in the first century. Once we learn to read the letter properly (with Audience Relevance) and understand the history of that decade (60-70AD) then we can see how it all came to pass in the events of Nero's persecutions, and the Roman Jewish War.
Revelation is also filled with figurative language that the Old Testament prophets used... we need to interpret it that way, and not take it so literally. It sounds like the end of the universe, but it is simply describing God's (then) impending Judgment, the end of national Israel, the burning of the Jewish Temple, and the demise of the Old Covenant system. Look in the OT to see the exact same language used when God judged Edom, Egypt, Babylon, and others. The moon turned to blood, and the stars fell from the sky, many times!
If it were describing something to happen in modern times, it would say "a long way off" and John would address it to believers living in the far distant future about things that would take place in 20 centuries. There are absolutely no adverbs giving room for such a delay. In fact, one verse said Jesus would NOT delay! Why don't we believe this? See link for all the time texts in the NT.

Read the book some more if you are concerned about false prophets. It tells you how to spot one. But you are not really seeking an answer, are you? You're just here to make fun of people's religious beliefs. How big of you.
