According to independent surveys, over 90% of Americans of all ages listen to at least 8 hours of radio each week. In other countries it's more. Apparently enough people listen to provide me an income as the Chief engineer of 8 of the 35 + stations in Las Vegas. There are over 5000 stations in the US, most of which are making money from the sale of commercials to the advertisers who are convinced that people are listening. The vast majority of US radio stations are not government supported and depend on people listening to the commercials.

I am a podcast and audio book junkie and I still listen to the radio and many of the podcasts I listen to are also radio programs
I don't listen as much as my relatives who live where the news is the weather and need to know if schools and highways are closed.

Ummm. Like everyone I know listens to the radio, including myself. You may not realize it but some people (like truckers or taxi drivers) listen to the radio every day. It's their only type of entertainment.

Nope. I have 4000 different songs and books on tape, all of which I enjoy a-lot on my i-pod. I do not want to listen to radio and deal with commercials or having to hear the same song over and over and over.
