Is it rude to ask your mum to do something?

Right this is out of curiosity more than anything, Basically last night we ran out of something in the house, she asks my brother to get some the next day, He says he can't because he is going out, could she go get it (The shop is about 500meters down the road), She then asks me, as I am getting ready for work if I can go get it, I say I can't, I've got work, can't she go get it, as we need it in the house, and she lost her god damn mind, literally went crazy, about respect and how we are all adults,

Legit help me out here, I offered to go to the shop, but I'm confused

Update:

Na she uses it aswell

She was the one asking you,and both of you refused. I hope you're both at least paying rent, it sounds like you're spoiled and disrespectful.

    Well, I can't say I blame her.

First she had to ask if someone could get this thing. So I suspect she still has to deal with all the household responsibility, even though you and your brother sound grown up. And then you and your brother make excuses as to why you can't get it.

I mean, I'm usually at work 16 hours per day and I can still buy groceries. You and your brother should have said you'd get it as soon as possible.

It sounds like your mother has had it with being responsible for everything. I would talk with your brother about how to take on more responsibility. Maybe you can organize a chore list, so that everyone has set responsibilities. That way, your mother will have less to worry about.

I would be very eager if I were you to ease the load on your mother. If you're old enough to work, she may get to the point where she kicks everyone out.

It sounds to me that she's at the end of her rope. She's stressed to the max and she just let it fly.

If you're old enough to be working and still living at home, you should be doing everything for yourself and buying everything for yourself. Everything. She shouldn't be shopping, cooking or cleaning for you at all. This applies even if you're still in some sort of school. You have to look at it from her standpoint. What makes her your maid? Also, what do you do for her and for the house? Examine it. Are you keeping up your end of the bargain?

    Best of luck.

It sounds perfectly reasonable to me, if your brother is going out and you're going to work, then your mum should be able to pop to the shops. Hm... she hasn't just broken a hip or something has she? Then I'd understand, but, maybe you should just ask her why she got so upset (don't say crazy), she might have some excuse we haven't thought of.

Perhaps it was dependant on who finished off whatever it was. If it was you children or for you children then why should she go running around after you. You all live in the house and should contribute to its running. Your mother isn't a slave.

It depends on HOW you say it more than anything else
