Sum based on volume,surface area etc?

A cube of 11cm edge is immersed completely in a rectangular vessel containing water.If the dimensions of the base of the vessel are 15cm x 12cm ,find the rise in water level in cms correct to 2 decimal places ,assuming that no water overflows.

    Displaced volume of the water in the vessel is 11 cm x 11 cm x 11 cm and this must be equal to 15 cm x 12 cm x h, where is the raise in water level. Therefore

    h = (11 cm x 11 cm x 11 cm) / (15 cm x 12 cm) = 7.39 cm

    volume of cube = 11³ cm³

    area of base of vessel = 15×12 = 180 cm²

    11³/180 ≅ 7.39 cm

    change in volume = volume of cube = 11^3 =1331 cm^3

    Therefore change in water level = 1331/(15(12)) = 7.39 cm
