Are atheists mentally ill?

Don't get upset at me. I'm quoting the headline from an article from the Telegraph. I know my response to this(that it isn't a mental illness by any definition), but wondering what others think.

Article so no one thinks I'm making it up.

Update:

I meant to say "an article in* the Telegraph", not "from".

Update 2:

I know, Shadow, it's why I'm asking. I'm not trolling. I'm just curious if anyone else notices what I did in this article.

Whoever wrote that article seems to not have taken into account that there should be multiple studies on the same thing for something to be considered "fact." For example, he doesn't have two studies showing theists "hobble farther" after going to a hospital.

Besides, I'm pretty sure atheism isn't a mental illness, or else someone would have contacted the American Doctors' Association already.

The author of the article freely admits to having had a misspent youth. That might be acceptable.

What isn't acceptable is his admission that he has a large forehead that might deter one from enjoying organic yogurt.

The only conclusion one can draw is that Hitler also had a large forehead and was also keen on doing things that attracted the attention of others, thus proving that anyone claiming that atheists are mentally ill are attention seekers

If they are ill, it's still theist's God/s who created them so the God and the theists have themselves to blame for atheist's illness. Another fact is that theist who thought beyond religions ways or religious preacher have made the modern world so advanced and easy though there are challenges ahead, they never seem to blame or beg to God for their misfortunes or the good fortunes. They just use their brain and keep doing things that will take humanity to new heights helping both theists and atheists and ill are those who fail to use their brains. Hope it made things a bit clear for you. Good Luck.

So, adults who believe in organized religion that is based on nothing but fear shame and blame, where someone has to feel that a "camera" is watching them 24/7 in case they "sin" is normal? What about being a mature adult and taking responsibility for their own actions? Isn't that what being an adult is all about? That some actions have consequences but making mistakes is the only way we learn? We sure as hell don't learn a damn thing from being successful at anything. Should I go on?

The word Christian used to signify someone who believed in a loving god and acted like it but sadly it now appears to symbolize someone who practices intolerance and persecution towards others!

‘Moor too’ recently posted - I can remember when being called or referring someone as a christian in Oz, was a colloquialism for a nice person, regardless of belief system. Sadly American evangelism has changed all that.

England's Archbishop of Canterbury has said that Christianity is now known for it's hatreds and not about god!

Surely the problem is with the Christians destroying their own religion from within?!

Was that written by a high-schooler? The article is basically saying that happiness is the same thing as sanity. It's like saying that since drinking makes people happy that means alcoholists are sane and absolutists insane. And forget about distinguishing correlation and causality. All good things that believers have must be because of the religion, the Telegraph reasons. Why? Because we say so.

Yeah, the Telegraph in a nutshell. The bottom of the barrel that's fallen out, buried, digested by worms, dug up again and written into Vogon poetry.

Funny how people just toss stuff out there and act like it is critically untouchable. They do not want a discussion, they just want to tell us all the way it is...from their very narrow perspective.

Easy to shut these people down when they allow it...LOL

Egypt's first born, Amalikites, Flood, She bears sent to murder 42 children.

"Obviously, it’s the believers who are smarter. Anyone who thinks otherwise is mentally ill."

Or so says the baby murdering book god worshiper...

Yes, anytime anyone doesn't believe in something with no proof they're mentally ill.

    No, of course not.

I saw that article shortly after it came out, and the bitterness and anger of the religionist who wrote it is really quite obvious.

Despite his specious claims, a meta-analysis of dozens of psychological studies shows a clear relation between religiosity and depression and anxiety. If anything is a mental illness, it is religion.
