Spiritually speaking, why are flying cockroaches so damn scary?

I just saw one and it freaked me out for a moment. Why does this happen?

Update:

@Seraphim

Thank you, captain. I'm asking what causes such irrational fear? I know it cant do anything to me, but when its flying towards me, all rational thinking goes straight out of the window.

Update 2:

@狐☯忠 Tadashi

I find it quite intriguing that bugs don't scare me when I'm at a park, but it really scares me when I see a bug indoors.

    I'll jump when I see a flying bug like that, but it's more a startle reaction. I don't put much stock into it, as the fear dies when I notice it's not a stinging type.

    On the other hand, I've got a near-morbid fear of those flying insects that can sting.

    I've started to deal with it lately.

    I keep in mind that they won't bother me, if I don't bother them.

    It seems to be working.

    It's probably more the fear of poison and sting than the bug itself.

    Conscious cognition will not eliminate the subconscious experience of fear.

    You have to directly test it out (touch or something) and thoroughly trust that it can't do anything to you. The fear will just fade away.

    First step is always the hardest.

    If cows could fly ..... you would be even more freaked out.
