Does coffee need creme?

Will it still taste good without it? What exactly does creme add to coffee besides lightening it?

I like it with low fat milk, but some people like either cream or half & half. I usually drink it black because I don't want it cooling off so quickly. Also, the milk keeps adding a coating to the teeth, & it's not always so convenient to go dashing off to brush my teeth. So, sure, it does add a little smoothness to the coffee, but I'll usually just have it black.

What's really fun, though, is when there's some whipped cream left from a party at work, some of us in the staff room will start adding it to our coffee when we're looking in the fridge for some leftover treats & will find that. If a group gift of a big box of chocolates comes in at the same time, we think that we're really set. We might send someone out to get some more of the spicy tortilla chips & some more of the curry flavored hummus dip. Along with the leftover pasta salad & a shaker of parmesan, we are indeed set up to feel like it's one more day of treats. If we always had low fat milk before in our coffee, well, forget that. If you're looking for a recommendation for what you need in your coffee for the holidays, I will recommend the whipped cream as the best thing to have.

Of course not. Plenty of people drink and/or prefer black coffee (that is, coffee without cream). To answer your other question, cream sweetens and flavors coffee and tones down the strong flavor of coffee, as some people find coffee too strong on its own.

I'll add that I prefer my coffee with sweetened condensed milk. I had it that way at a Vietnamese restaurant and it's superb because it doesn't water the coffee down like milk or creamer does. It results in a strong but sweet, non bitter coffee. It's fantastic when iced.

It's a personal taste. I always add milk and sugar to mine; milk to lighten it and counteract the coffee taste and sugar to sweeten it. I know some people who drink it black (no milk) or black with no sugar.

Yes coffee will taste good without it, it just mainly changes the consistency and makes it a little thicker

it does add flavor, but some prefer the black coffee. i like creamer since it does add flavor like vanilla, caramel, hazelnut, peppermint, depending on your palette.

It smooths out the drink's flavor & reduces the acid on your stomach.
