Aeriel doesn't fit into my television. 10 points?

I bought a new television from The Warehouse last year (strangely it has no brand name). today I tried to plug an ordinary freeview Ariel into the COAX socket thing but it won't fit. so I tried it with a few other aerials I had lying around the house and none of them fit. yet they fit into my dads new tv which he just bought yesterday and they fit into my brothers old tv. I have no "Aerial in" socket, just the COAX.

is there a special adaptor of some kind that I need to buy?

the inside of the coax socket is red and it's a 55 inch LCD (if that helps with anything)

please help. I spent a lot on this tv and it's just a waste of money if I can't even get any channels. I'm in new Zealand.

thanks in advance.

Type in "belling lee" and "F connector" into Google and look at the pictures.

If you have these two kind of connectors, you can buy an adapter to connect your aerial. Please note that there are two kind of Belling Lee plugs - Male and Female. If you need to have a Belling Lee plug in the TV, it's usually a Female plug and you need a Male plug on the adapter. If you have a Belling Lee plug on the aerial, it's usually a Male plug and you need a Female plug on the adapter.

sounds like its a cable socket not an aerial socket

perhaps it has a screw thread around the outside.

it may be a Hotel style tv
