Why Is My Computer Slow Copying Files to CD?
I have Windows XP and am having problems copying files to a CD. When I send the files over to the D drive (I only have one writable drive) the files take forever. It takes 50 minutes or so to copy the files to the CD. The actual burning of the CD takes only a few minutes. I am using a standard 700 MB CD. This is a refurbished computer. As far as I know this is the original drive that came with the computer when purchased. Is there anything I can do, check out, and speed up this process?
Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

See what I mean? It's an old pc, and it's doing a lousy job. Try putting the files on a flash drive and copying the files onto that CD on a newer computer or laptop!

SInce you are using windows XP I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say this is probably an old PC. And, an old PC is bound to have an old CD drive and old harddrive. Your slow writing speed is simply because the drive is slow, or somewhere along the line is slow. Either buy a new PC, or at least a new harddrive/CD drive, its really the only solution, the hardware has physical limits.

Make sure the motherboard Chipset driver is installed. Also, check the hard drive physical connections, the hard drive might be going bad.
