My laptop's brightness won't go down no matter what I try. Any suggestions?
I have a Dell Inspiron 15 with Windows 8 and I've gotten the latest update for it.
Just a few days ago, I noticed the screen brightness was all the way up when my laptop wasn't plugged into the wall (I keep at lowest when it isn't charging). I used the shortcut on my key board to lower it, only the brightness bar would not change and neither would the screen's brightness. I then used my mouse to lower it, I was able to lower the bar on the brightness bar, but still no change in my monitor's brightness. I then went to control panel and tried changing it from there, still wouldn't work. My screen is at the highest brightness when it's plugged in too and I can't change it when it's plugged in either. This could prove to be a problem when I'm not around an electrical outlet.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem is or how I could fix it?

My first instinct would be that it's a driver problem. Since you're using Windows 8, you should be able to go to "Device Manager" then go to "display adapters" or something similar, and have it automatically update the driver for that device by finding it on the internet. This will either upgrade your driver to the latest version, or (hopefully) give the option to re-install the current driver. It also wouldn't hurt to update your other drivers using this method, your keyboard driver in particular, which could also be the problem for the keyboard shortcut.
If all else fails, try searching "Dell Inspiron 15 brightness not changing" or something along those lines, it may be a common problem.
