Growing Dwarf Baby Tears?

Hi, i planted my HC three days ago, i have 26 watt full spectrum light for a 8 gallon tank, which is more then the minimum of 2 wpg to grow these, i also have pressurized co2. But it looks like the edges of the the plant is dying away... is this normal? It is ok that pieces are dying and most look very well.

Update:

this specific piece is strapped down to some drift wood with some substrate around the edges.. but if you look on the right side of the plant, it looks kinda icky

Update 2:

not literally ick, i meant it as just dying gross ends that are turning dark and soggy.

If there is ick then something is wrong with the plant.

    Hello :)

Nice plant. I never have gotten the courage to try this plant out simply because of how hard it is to grow because it has such small roots and its demand for CO2. In the wild it grows barely just under the water line, but in your aquarium since you want it to carpet you will have to get plenty of light and a lot of CO2.

Can you move your CO2diffuser closer to the DBT? That way it will be able to grow "outwards" instead of just growing "tall".

Any good growth is good. The plant is being acclimated to your water. As long as you see growth you are doing well. Now if the sogginess is taking your whole plant then something in your water or set up is not good for this plant.

I think you need a bit more light for this one. A 35-44 watt for your 8g is medium to high lighting. What kind of light fixture do you have? I would get a LED strip light in conjunction to what you are using right now.

As I said I don't know much about it, but hopefully some one will jump in a help out. I believe if you have a good CO2 pressurized system then I think you need to bump up the light and that should help.

Tying this plant to driftwood is not a good idea. Place it in the substrate and place a rock over it to weigh it down (or some rocks, not to big, but enough to weigh it down). The roots will slowly grab on to the substrate. A sand substrate can be used as this plant has really small roots or really small gravel. What kind of substrate do you have? It must be a good decent substrate like ADA soil for this plant to flourish.

You are trying to grow this plant submerged where in its natural form it likes to grow just beneath the surface of the water. If you do not provide a rich mineral substrate with iron and all that good stuff and high lighting this plant will completely melt and die.
