Engine may be seized?
Hi guys I have a 52 plate clio (woo) the other day I ran my battery down because the air con was on. The windows and lights and everything still work but when I turn the key it makes like a clang noise. It wouldn't bump or jump start but my oil light wasn't on. What I wanted to know is if it was seized would it move in gear and can anyone recommend anything

Hello
Try the jump starting again but this time
Other car Red to battery Positive Post +
Other end to your battery Positive Post +
Other car Black to Battery Negative -
Other end to a good Earth (Not Battery) Like engine lifting eye or suspension top nut.
Now start other car and run for 15 minutes to put charge back into your battery (Starts up 500 % better).
Now start your car.
Remove jump leads.
If that did not work you may need to get your battery/charging system checked or it could be a sticky Bendix Gear
Turn Ignition Off
Put car into 2nd gear
Remove Hand brake
Now roll Forwards/Backwards a coupl of times
Hand brake On Into Neutral
Try starting Car.

Your battery doesn't have enough power, but it should start when you kick start it,if it doesn't start chech the Negative(black) wire of your battery to see if it is properly connected to the body of the car or gearsbox. The Negative wire works as the earth of your car so if not connect to the car body, you'll have a very weird sound that sounds like some thing is broken in the engine when trying to start the car,and the engine will never start when the Earth wire is not connected properly the starter will just crank the engine until eternity. But if the earth wire is connected then you have to look for grease or white stuff bewteen battery and wire contacts, as these things prevents metal to metal contact.Do the same on the other side of the wire where it contacts with car body or gearbox

If the engine has seized then it would not move along in gear with the clutch pedal up
Unless something else happened to your car then what you describe is a simple very low battery and/or poor or dirty connections around the starter/battery/alternator area

Engine shouldn't sieze just because you've flattened the battery - try charging the battery,or if it is the original battery you might need a new one.

the battery it hasn't powered up enough try jump start it or get someone to roll it then turn ignition when moving if it has fuel injection give it time between starting up.

Hi without battery power nothing works and if this battery is over 4 years old chances are it needs to be replaced. as they have a life span of 3-4 years.

if it was seized it would not move in gear (if you have a manual gearbox and the clutch doesn't slip).3rd gear is best to try this.
