When did the Pound/Number symbol start being called a Hashtag?

Greta Van Sustren just invited people to twitter in using "Hashtag Greta"

but I'd much rather Pound Greta to be perfectly honest!

    Actually, Greta wants some hash.Please "tag" her for some. Marijuana is easy to get, but hash is still a treasure. Why do you want to beat up Greta?
