should have no bearing on it whatsoever, same as it should never have had any influence over the induction of Gary Ablett sen. into the hall of fame. yet there will always those with a holier than thou attitude who would want both not inducted. no matter how good they were.

OF COURSE!!!
He is a coach it has nothing to do with the hall of fame, James Hird was a champion player and has every right to be a hall of famer and are so many AFL/Coaches have had drug problems trust me I am a carlton supporter and hate Essendon so I am telling the truth and hird will always be known a young champion when he played.

I agree with the majority so far. A spot in the AFL Players Hall of Fame is earned solely on the footy field, playing at the highest level of the sport. He has earned that right in an exemplary playing career, full stop.

Yes, i would.
At the end of the day he was an absolute champion player, besides plenty have done worse it's just drugs was the flavour of the time so he got smashed. (in no way condoning the way Essendon handled the situation)

Whether or not he is inducted at the end of the day his reputation has been tarnished and there wil always be people out there who bring it up.
I think he should be inducted but I wouldn't feel comfortable with it

With whats come out so far he shouldn't but he will be inducted because they will say all this happened after he played.

No to the first part of your question. yes to the second part of your question due to moral issues surrounding this scandal.
Cheers.

I wouldn't want him in, but if Demetriou is still in, the old boys club will make sure he is.
Lexi, if I were you I'd change your answer to should be decided, not is.
Cousins will never get in (I don't think anyone would disagree there) but his on-field career was hardly any different to Hird's.
