Can I backup my PC with a flash drive?

Today I purchased a 32 gig flash drive with the salesmans assurance that I could backup my pc on it.

I have tried but I keep getting prompted to insert a cd before I can procede.

Did I get bad advise or am I doing something wrong?

the process of a backup is to keep a copy of important information in a separate location. so technically you can backup to the flash drive, but you need to do it manually. you cant use the backup wizard. just locate the files you want to keep and copy them to the drive.

You store individual folders on the flash drive, but I do not think you can do a "back up" to it.

You can do it but you need a program such as norton ghost or similar.
