What was Christianity's affect on World History?

I'm doing a research paper on Christianity's affect on World History (Prehistory to the Enlightenment Era of the 1800's). I just want to know the major things to talk about in my paper and where I can get some awesome articles

Update:

Huey - I will take any articles you can give me because I can't use Wikipedia on this paper or it's an instant fail. I know my basics on the subject but I want to expand on the paper since it has to be 12 pages

    Christianity brought nothing but horror.

The Pope held immense power over defenseless peasants, could use the fear of the people to betray kings through the threat of excommunication, and... Well... The seven papal sinners were horrid and cruel men (one of them had sex with a MALE prostitute, and another got blood transfusions through three children against their will.)

Oh my FSM and the calvinists and the evangelicals! HORRIBLE! Calvinists (creator named John Calvin) believed in pre destination in which you were either destined to be saved or doomed. There was no free choice. Theocracy formed around this concept and many suffered in the cities it touched (Genova was the worst of these places I believe)

And EVANGELICALS!? This form of Christianity was FORCED onto the people of England by Henry the 8th. Why did he form this? Because he needed to break away from Catholicism in order to divorce his wife. (He had over 5 girlfriends while he was married btw).

Source(s): 30 years war? Crusades? Witch trials? Cromwell the madman? Christianity is a BLIGHT on humanity and kept humanity in the dark ages and hindered our progress as a race. Good day to you.

Wikipedia, they list there sources at the bottom.

Do you want the good or bad stuff about Christianity, because i could provide you with a lot of articles on the bad stuff.

Look up how Europeans came to America and many African Countries and tried to convert them to Christianity and the damage they caused. Also European Christians made several Native American cultures become extinct, i also remember they fought with the Aztecs and other native south Americans

Christianity is the religion that taught about Jesus Christ who is the Savior of many countless people.

Jesus said that if we believe in Him, He gives us eternal life.

Christianity is broken up in many denominations and has the Gospel or some don't have the true Gospel and teach a different Jesus.

So there is a lot of types of Christian beliefs under the umbrella of Christianity.

War in the name of peace.

We would still be a barbaric society without it.

Look at the the other major world religion. They still chop off hands for stealing, an kill for adultery.
