Is there any evidence that Democrats actually practice voter fraud?

I saw another poster claim Democrats use votes from dead people and illegals and another poster claimed that voter ID laws stop Democrats from their "rampant" voter fraud. Is there any evidence of this? All I can recall are instances of Republican voter fraud.

Update:

@ Warren: Democrats are fighting for FAIR voter ID laws that don't target the poor, elderly, students and women. Also, my question asked for EVIDENCE not more baseless accusations. Consider yourself lucky I didn't report your question as a non-answer.

Update 2:

@ James: Where would I research for that information? Can you point me in the right direction?

Update 3:

@ Peace through blinding force: You need to provide evidence. This is the best that I could find and it doesn't specify party:

Out of the 197 million votes cast for federal candidates between 2002 and 2005, only 40 voters were indicted for voter fraud, according to a Department of Justice study outlined during a 2006 Congressional hearing. Only 26 of those cases, or about .00000013 percent of the votes cast, resulted in convictions or guilty pleas.

Update 4:

@ Whateverfor: Thank you for providing a link. The only problem I have with that site is that it doesn't cite sources. Do you suppose if I contacted them they'd provide their sources of information?

Update 5:

You know, I tried but I can't find much hard evidence -- maybe it's my lack of research skills because I can't even figure out how to find statistics on the FBI site. I did find this, however, which seems to indicate that voter fraud is an imaginary issue created to justify ID laws that make it hard for those who would normally vote Democrat to vote.

Update 6:

@ Jeff D.: Thank you for the links (except for the Fox link. They have admitted in court to lying to the public and I do not consider them credible for that reason.) but when I examined them they basically narrated a very few cases that, frankly, are underwhelming. ONE woman voted three or four times and got caught? (and so on) I'm not seeing the "big problem" here.

Update 7:

@ JeffD: I thanked you because I was looking for evidence and you tried to provide some. I did check out your first two links but do you seriously expect me to even consider what an organization that fought in court for its right to lie? Yes, my mind is made up about Fox News -- they said themselves that they are entertainment and not news.

Update 8:

@ Whateverfor: Thank you. I don't know why I couldn't think of that for myself. Excellent suggestion.

No. The incidence of voter fraud is miniscule. What little there is comes from both Republicans and Democrats. Voter ID laws are primarily to stop minority participation.

@OP: copy one of the stats and google it, you'll get original sources. Example, [2004 election in Ohio revealed a voter fraud rate of 0.00004%] (don't use quotes) gets links to the ACLU and the Brennan Center, which link to US Gov statistics.

ADDED: @Mercadies2000, got any links? Because you are repeating urban legends. http://www.factcheck.org/2013/01/voting-conspiraci...

Those are just a few. I should also point out that unless the fraudulent voter is a campaign worker, it's often difficult to know if the illegal voter is a Republican or a Democrat.

The other thing about voter fraud is that's it's a nearly victimless crime. No one complains after the fact. It's usually only prosecuted in those rare cases when someone is caught red-handed. Hardly anyone ever looks for voter fraud; they just assume it doesn't happen.

But what happens if you do look for voter fraud? After the 2008 election, a conservative Minnesota group painstakingly went through the entire list of who voted statewide and, after 18 months of work, identified nearly 1100 people who had voted illegally (convicted felons who weren't eligible to vote). This has resulted, so far, in over 200 convictions (many prosecutors had no interest in pursuing the cases). The point is, neither election officials nor law enforcement would ever have done the legwork necessary to find these illegal voters. And virtually nothing has been done to prevent from happening again, or in other states.

EDIT: You asked for "any evidence" and when I provide it, you claim it's not enough. It looks like you've already made up your mind.

If voter fraud was as predominant as Republicans claim it is, you would see the claim raised and proven in election contests after close elections. While sometimes, Republicans clam that such and such election (e.g. the Franken-Coleman Senate race in 2008) was stolen through fraudulent votes, their candidate had every incentive in the world to investigate such fraud and raise it in the election contest, yet failed to do so. To a rational person, that should be proof about the level of fraud in elections.

Good grief, check into Wisconsin, they had a huge amount the first time around, So much so when they were done the numbers that voted for Obama in the state actually only turned out to be a little over a thousand. Milwaukee was the worst and one young man given immunity said he voted for Obama 72 times in 6 different counties, he said this right on tv. They have just finished up in court with the many more they found guilty with a mere slap on the hand. And was it Ohio that had 100% votes for Obama and those in that state said that wasn't possible and there are counties they found voted 150% for Obama. You won't find much on this, the articles when printed disappeared as fast as they were printed and most data on any of this stuff went with it. Why?

Voter fraud is quite substantial in Calif., simply do search on voter fraud and court cases! The people doing massive voter fraud are ILLEGAL ALIENS!! They have caused candidates to lose elections, like Bob Dornan in CA who lost to Mexican/American woman due to illegals. In CA. illegals are "allowed" by law to sign up people to vote!! Seriously. Look it up. Whole neighborhoods of illegal aliens in CA admit they voted. Obviously, if you have people who come here illegally, create and buy fake ID's, etc. you have people who will vote illegally for their benefit. In Mexico itself, voting was so fraudulent that they now have tamper proof ID voter cards with fingerprints and hologram, etc. This is what we need here in U.S!!.

You have to look at the issue and not your emotions. First and foremost, we want only American citizens to vote, no one else, to keep voting an honest. moral and legal right. You do not want your vote stolen by illegal or legal immigrants among others!! This all comes first. Second, you want to give the poor access to free tamperproof voting cards! Every year hundreds of thousands of 'legal' immigrants are taken off Republican voter rolls because we have a paper trail of these people who have voted illegally.

The only reason bad people do not want to have honest, legal voting with tamper proof ID cards is because they want democrat votes.

HOW do illegals get to vote? They show one of their fake ID's or real ID with picture and address, and vote. No one at a pollling place is going to question a fake or real ID photo and would not work if they did question it. Is anyone asked at voting booth if they are a legal citizen? No. No. We need tamper proof voting cards for citizens, only, including free ones for poor citizens, only.

  • Actually, if you look at the FBI statistics on convictions for "Voter Fraud", "Election Fraud" and rigged elections for every 1 conviction of a Democrat you find 25-30 Republicans. This is in the entire USA.

So, what the Republicans are doing is saying "since we can do this so easily, the Democrat must be doing it as well". This is the thinking of the morally corrupt.

And for those interested in those statistics start here : http://www.fbi.gov/stats-services/crimestats

Yes. Several convictions, countless Democrats accusing other Democrats of doing it, the Democrat-led Civil Rights Commission finding thousands of cases, but none involving non-Democrats, retired (and thus untouchable) Democrats bragging about it, literally 100% of elected Democrats demanding it be illegal to try to prevent it . . . .

In contrast, you will cite no cases of "Republican voter fraud" that go beyond a LEGITIMATE voter voting ONCE but being accused of doing it in the wrong District.

The percentage of voter fraud in America is so miniscule as to be statistically categorized as a possible +/- calculation error.

Anyone who tells you that voter fraud is a significant issue in election is a liar and probably a racist and if they protest, ask them to show you ANY proof of voter fraud...ANYTHING. They won't because there isn't any.
