Will the Phillippines challenge an 'air defense zone?
Suppose China declares an air defense zone in the Scarborough Shoals and nearby areas, how would the country react? This has already happened in the Japanese-claimed islands as we know.

If China declares another bogus 'air defense' zone around the spratly Islands, this could be basis to file another complaint with the UN ICJ to declare the Chinese claim invalid, and as provoking hostility. It could also be a basis to invoke or escalate the 1951 Mutual Defense Treaty with the US, since the Spratly Islands is well within the 200 mile EEZ of the Philippines, (and formerly a joint US - Philippines target range, which could be another response)

Isn't it ironic that those who want to jump into a war have never ever been in a war before. They just want someone else to do their fighting for them.
Case in point, Philippines depending on US Military to back them up if they attack a Chinese aircraft and China retaliates with all its military might.

With what?
A 20 year old clapped out fighter plane they got from the Yanks for a discount?
Yeah, right.

You should react vehemently: do NOT stand for such an incursion.
The Philippine Military, guaranteed of immediate U.S. Air support
should instantly retaliate. Should it escalate into real war, the Philippines
-Mindanao, especially- would win BIG time with the huge "invasion"
of big-spending U,S. ground troops, not to mention up-grade to Lumbia airstrip.

Yes they will "challenge" & then ask the US to do their fighting for them (but as soon as it is over will tell the US "We don't want you" AGAIN)
