Why do Christians care more about what the Bible says than God?
Ok, so technically you could call me a Christian, in the sense that I follow Christ, however I've come to realize more and more lately how other Christians seem to focus so much on what the Bible says, so much so that hundreds of denominations have spawned over disagreements on interpretation of Scripture. This is one of the many reasons I have stopped attending church. It just makes me too angry. It seems like every time I would go to church all the pastor would do was take a passage from the Bible and give his interpretation of it. There was no room in the church for people like me who question why the Bible, and not God himself, is the ultimate authority, when the Bible says different things to everyone. I know that the Bible is "God-inspired" and all that, but, if reading and studying the Bible is so important for having a relationship with him and being a good Christian, then how come there are so many people regarded as righteous in the Bible that never read the Bible? How did people talk to God and have a strong relationship with him when they didn't have the Bible? Also, how can we trust that the everything that is in the Bible is supposed to be in there and that the Bible isn't missing anything? ( I'm especially talking about the letters in the New Testament. Why should they have any more authority than simply good teachings of men designed to help us understand why Jesus came more, but that have no strict rules/ doctrine we have to obey.) Please understand that I am not trying to brutally criticize the Bible, I am simply questioning people's beliefs of it.

You are right on in much of what you say. Good job!
The Pharisees knew the scriptures extremely well. They knew every letter, jot and tittle written on the scrolls; they even played games where they stuck a pin through the scroll and had to guess which letters the pin went through in each successive layer!
With all their learning they couldn't even recognize the savior when he was standing right in front of them.
Jesus chastised them and said, 'you search the scriptures because you think you will find life in them; but it is me of which they speak!'
Jesus was telling us that there is no life in the scriptures. There is only life in Him! That is why we must come into a living and personal relationship with Him and let Him guide us by His Holy Spirit. The words recorded in the scriptures are holy and true. But, without the enlightenment of the Spirit of God to show us their hidden and true inner meaning, they will never give any more light than what the pharisees got from them.
The Bible has been around a long time and it is the most excoriated book of all time. That's OK, we are supposed to question everything, so that we know what we believe. I believe what I believe, because I have studied it for myself. I do not let my faith rest on something that another person decided for me!
Acts 17:10-12
[Paul and Silas Go to Berea]
"That same night the believers sent Paul and Silas to Berea where they went to the synagogue. These people were more willing to listen than the people in Thessalonica. The Bereans were eager to hear what Paul and Silas said and STUDIED THE SCRIPTURES EVERY DAY TO FIND OUT IF THESE THINGS WERE TRUE. So, many of them believed, as well as many important Greek women and men."
We all need to be like these Bereans and study the scriptures every day to see if what other people tell you is true or not. It is a noble thing to do.

Most denominations believe the same way, they only differ on style of worship. That said, the difference between them and you is their perception of the Bible. They believe the Bible was recorded to compile God's will, so listening to it is listening to God. The Bible also wasn't compiled for a long time, but the individual books were circulated, just wasn't bound in any specific (or scroll).
Also, the New Testament is simply an excerpt, but at bare minimum the best information to keep you on track (versus nutty books that could have been added to the bound book). The Bible as it stands is ALL we need honestly to understand and follow God.
BTW, to be a follower of Christ, you must understand and read the words of Jesus for context. Those come exclusively from the Bible. I do not fully agree with my fellow Protestants that it is perfect, but I do believe it was meant to be in this form.

the bible is god's holy word
the bible is very clear and can not be interpreted differently
the holy spirit indwells the true believer and interprets the scriptures for us
all who have the holy spirit of god will believe the same things
the bible is god's holy word from god's own lips
god told the apostles what to write as he did all the prophets of the old testament
god caused the bible to be so we know nothing is missing from the bible
the letters in the new testament do give us commands as how we as christians should live
the new testament does have strict rules/doctrines we are to obey.
you have not read the new testament or you would not say there are no strict rules or doctrine if you had read it

Okay , now think about this one . Why would Marlowe at any stage of his Christianity ever ever have to accept something dogmatically ? Dogma ; at least how Marlowe defines it ( just believe it ) , is good for a person to have ; prior to the time when they can actually process spiritual questions . If they are mature they can come up with successful , sound Doctrine . Paul preaches doctrine yet people sometimes in holding to that doctrine dogmatically err . Peter approved of Paul's teaching of Doctrine but warned some would hold to it dogmatically and miss the boat entirely .

here is what God says about scripture so you'll understand if we believe him
2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
2Ti 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Hello =)
I think it's because they consider it the word of God and they don't think God speaks to us today. I, and my church believe that what God says is more important. We have a prophet who speaks with God every day and he tells us what God wants us to know. God also speaks to each of us through personal revelation.
I hope this answered your question, have a good day =)

I could explain parts of this to you in a few hours, but to type it here would not be suitable or easy.
Your question deserves a full answer and discussion.

It is important that we worship God in the way that he approves. Many people believe that all religions are pleasing to God, but the Bible does not teach that. It is not even enough just to claim to be a Christian. Jesus said: “Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will.” To have God’s approval, therefore, we must learn what God requires of us and do it. Jesus called those who do not do God’s will “workers of lawlessness.” (Matthew 7:21-23) Like counterfeit money, false religion has no real value. Even worse, such religion is actually harmful. Jehovah gives everyone on earth the opportunity to gain everlasting life. To have eternal life in Paradise, however, we must worship God properly and live now in a way that is acceptable to him. Sadly, many refuse to do so. That is why Jesus said: “Go in through the narrow gate; because broad and spacious is the road leading off into destruction, and many are the ones going in through it; whereas narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading off into life, and few are the ones finding it.” (Matthew 7:13, 14) True religion leads to everlasting life. False religion leads to destruction. Jehovah does not want any human to be destroyed, and that is why he is giving people everywhere an opportunity to learn about him. (2 Peter 3:9) Really, then, the way we worship God means either life or death for us. God’s servants base their teachings on the Bible. The Bible itself says: “All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, that the man [or woman] of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16, 17) To his fellow Christians, the apostle Paul wrote: “When you received God’s word, which you heard from us, you accepted it, not as the word of men, but, just as it truthfully is, as the word of God.” (1 Thessalonians 2:13) Hence, beliefs and practices of the true religion are not based on human views or tradition. They originate in God’s inspired Word, the Bible. Those who practice the true religion worship only Jehovah and make his name known. Jesus declared: “It is Jehovah your God you must worship, and it is to him alone you must render sacred service.” (Matthew 4:10) Thus, God’s servants worship no one other than Jehovah. This worship includes letting people know what the name of the true God is and what he is like. Psalm 83:18 states: “You, whose name is Jehovah, you alone are the Most High over all the earth.” Jesus set the pattern in helping others to get to know God, as he said in prayer: “I have made your name manifest to the men you gave me out of the world.” (John 17:6) Similarly, true worshipers today teach others about God’s name, his purposes, and his qualities. God’s people show genuine, unselfish love for one another. Jesus said: “By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love among yourselves.” (John 13:35) The early Christians had such love for one another. Godly love overcomes racial, social, and national barriers and draws people together in an unbreakable bond of true brotherhood. (Colossians 3:14) Members of false religions do not have such a loving brotherhood. How do we know that? They kill one another because of national or ethnic differences. True Christians do not take up weapons to kill their Christian brothers or anyone else. The Bible states: “The children of God and the children of the Devil are evident by this fact: Everyone who does not carry on righteousness does not originate with God, neither does he who does not love his brother. . . . We should have love for one another; not like Cain, who originated with the wicked one and slaughtered his brother.”—1 John 3:10-12; 4:20, 21. Therefore true Christians do not go to war and kill their brothers in other countries.
True christians also follow Jesus organization for preaching house to house all their lives until the end comes. Acts 20:20, Luke 10;1,2
