Why do Christians care more about what the Bible says than God?
Ok, so technically you could call me a Christian, in the sense that I follow Christ, however I've come to realize more and more lately how other Christians seem to focus so much on what the Bible says, so much so that hundreds of denominations have spawned over disagreements on interpretation of Scripture. This is one of the many reasons I have stopped attending church. It just makes me too angry. It seems like every time I would go to church all the pastor would do was take a passage from the Bible and give his interpretation of it. There was no room in the church for people like me who question why the Bible, and not God himself, is the ultimate authority, when the Bible says different things to everyone. I know that the Bible is "God-inspired" and all that, but, if reading and studying the Bible is so important for having a relationship with him and being a good Christian, then how come there are so many people regarded as righteous in the Bible that never read the Bible? How did people talk to God and have a strong relationship with him when they didn't have the Bible? Also, how can we trust that the everything that is in the Bible is supposed to be in there and that the Bible isn't missing anything? ( I'm especially talking about the letters in the New Testament. Why should they have any more authority than simply good teachings of men designed to help us understand why Jesus came more, but that have no strict rules/ doctrine we have to obey.) Please understand that I am not trying to brutally criticize the Bible, I am simply questioning people's beliefs of it.
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality7 years agoIs it true that white werewolves can't take human form?
I know werewolves aren't real, but I'm interested in mythology and was reading a website that said white werewolves are werewolves that are born in wolf form and never take human form, however they have human souls/minds. It also said that black werewolves are werewolves that stay in control when they transform. I thought these facts were interesting, however I couldn't find anywhere else online that talked about this. Have you ever heard of this or do you know where this website got the information from? Thanks!
9 AnswersMythology & Folklore7 years agoAm I exercising enough?
I am a 15 year old girl who really wants to get fit. I am doing yoga every morning for 20-30 minutes, then martial arts twice a week at night for an hour. Is this enough exercise to get in shape if I eat right, or should I start running for 15-30 minutes on the nights I don't fight?

2 AnswersComics & Animation8 years agoSPOILERS Am I the only one who thought Sawyer and Juliet on LOST were not good for each other?
Look, I know it was kinda sweet when Juliet was about to die and Sawyer was trying to save her, but other than that they just never really "clicked" for me. I am still adamant that Sawyer and Kate should have ended up together, and Jack and Juliette should have. Not only did these couples "click" but Jack and Juliette are both dead at the end and Kate and Sawyer are not, so now they are both going to have to go the rest of their lives without their loves, even though its obvious they would still have feelings for each other. Anyone else agree? What are your thoughts?
3 AnswersDrama8 years agoFeeling faint at the sight of blood?
Today I accidentally grated my finger against a cheese grater and it totally sliced it so I went to get a band aid and when I cleaned the blood off and bent the cut finger, I could see under my skin and my head started feeling really light, so I put the band aid on and went to lay on the couch because I was burning up, my face was sweating, and my ears were plugged. After a minute or two laying down, I was fine. Could this be because of the sight if blood? This has never happened to me before and I watch a bunch of gory stuff (The Walking Dead, horror movies) and they don't bother me.
2 AnswersOther - Diseases8 years agoDropped my iPhone 4s in toilet?
Ok, so I dropped my iPhone 4s in the toilet and pulled it out immediately, took the case off (which covers the back) dried it off, shook it several times and tested everything. Everything seems to be working fine. I just put it in a bowl of rice, but I'm going to have to take it out in the morning because I'm going on a trip with my church and need my phone with me. Will it be okay? Or should I put it in rice as soon as I get home from the trip? What do I do? Please help!
5 AnswersCell Phones & Plans8 years agoWhy should I go to church?
So I've been going to church my whole life and have been saved from my sins by Jesus Christ, who I have a deep relationship with. I've always been kind of a loner, and Jesus is my best friend. But I don't see church as being what it's meant to be. Apparently, it should be a group of believers who help each other in their pursuit of the life Christ has called them to. I know we are supposed to have relationships with other followers, but I've never met anyone at church who is there to pursue this. Maybe it's only because I'm 15 and pretty mature for my age, but everyone else at church is just there to socialize. Yeah, they see Christianity as their religion and stuff but they just don't get what being a follower of Christ is supposed to be. I know what my calling is, and am trying to pursue this, but church doesnt help. And I just hear the same thing over and over at church, so why should I keep going? It just feels pointless to me.
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoDo I have orthorexia?
So, I just heard about orthorexia, which is basically a type of eating disorder where someone is obsessive over healthy eating, to the point where it becomes unhealthy. I feel like I do have this to some degree because I obsess over food that I deem "pure", and won't eat anything "impure". And sometimes it's really weird things that I myself say is healthy or "not-so-bad", when, in reality, I know it is bad, but I don't feel too guilty about eating it. For example, the only two desserts I can have are frozen yogurt (with only fruit toppings) and 1 tbsp of cookie butter. Anything else, I won't eat. I don't eat meat, except for fish (not fried). The only carbs I eat are whole grain and corn. I eat eggs and nuts, and drink water and tea. I eat fruits and vegetables. There might be some other things I haven't listed that I say are "pure", but that's the jist of it. And if I eat something "impure" or eat over 1500 calories, I become very depressed to the point of trying to cut myself or make myself throw it up. I also have to exercise every day or else I get depressed. I hate eating out sometimes because I'm worried they won't have anything "pure" on the menu and sometimes I wish I could have a scoop of ice cream or slice of cake without feeling horrible about myself, but I can't do it. I think that I have orthorexia because of this, but the thing is, I am not unhealthy. I know I am at a healthy weight (I'm 15, 5 feet tall and 110 pounds), although I'd like to lose about 10 pounds, and I feel fine as long as I follow my diet and exercise, but can I still have an eating disorder if I'm not underweight? What do you think? And if I do have this, what can I do about it? Thanks!
1 AnswerDiet & Fitness8 years agoWhat would happen to a person after being arrested for murder?
So, I'm writing a story and basically, this girl kills an undercover cop, unaware that he is a cop, then fakes her own death, creates a new identity, moves to England, then moves back to the USA, where she is found out and arrested. What would happen in the processing and how long would she be kept in the local jail before being transferred to another jail? Basically, I don't know anything about what would happen after she was arrested, so if anyone knows, please help me out. Thanks!
1 AnswerLaw Enforcement & Police8 years agoI'm psychic with tv shows?
Ok, so this is really weird, and I know that, but ever since I was little, I've had visions of scenes from tv shows that I watch and then when I watch a new episode of that show, what happens in my vision happens. It's like I'm psychic, or a prophet, or something, but only with tv shows. The first time I remember this happening was when I was in kindergarten and it happened with an episode of spongebob. I had a dream of an episode of spongebob, and then next day I watched that episode. I had never seen the episode before. Now that I'm older, I watch different shows, but this happens all the time with them. For example, I've been watching Lost for the first time this summer, and I had a vision of Boone covered in blood, then the next day I watched the episode where Boone died. And awhile ago, I had a dream of an asian guy dressed in the Dharma clothes, and now that I'm on season 5, I just saw the episode where Miles, the same asian guy I saw in the dream, who wasn't even in the show at the time I had this vision, is dressed in Dharma clothes. People always tell me this is just Deja vu, but I really don't think it is. It's too realistic and vivid, and it happens in real life sometimes too, but mostly only with tv shows. It's a really weird thing to live with and I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything like this or has any information to what this is. Thanks!
4 AnswersParanormal Phenomena8 years agoHow can I move from the US to Australia?
I really want to eventually end up moving to Australia, but I don't qualify for the skilled work list. I am a writer and just want to work odd jobs at coffee shops and things like that, so I am thinking about applying for a work and holiday, but that is only good for one year. Is there any way I will ever be able to move permanently to Australia (without marrying someone)? P.S. I also thought about living in New Zealand first, then going to Australia (I like to travel and change things up a lot), but I don't qualify for any of their "skilled worker" jobs either. Please help, I really want to live in Australia.

2 AnswersInjuries8 years agoWhat is the name of this movie?
The movie has a scene where a guy is reciting a passage from the Bible "Forgive us our trespasses and we forgive those who trespass us." There is also a line where a character says "You realize something then." "What?" "We don't have to follow any rules. We make our own rules now. The law of Braxton is dead." Please help! It's driving me crazy!!!
8 AnswersMovies8 years agoCountry sounding boy names with a nickname?
So, I'm writing a book and there was this character named Daniel but now I have to change his name because I'm reading a book where the main character is Danny and I keep thinking of him instead. He's from Kansas and has a brother named Levi who always calls him Danny, so I need another name where his brother could still call him by a nickname. I thought of the name Dallas, and he could call him Dally, but thats from The Outsiders, or Russell and he could be called Russ. Please help.
6 AnswersBaby Names8 years agoWhat is this movie- a guy reciting a passage from the Bible in the beginning?
So, my computer has a weird virus where it plays the sound of random commercials and movie trailers and stuff, and I've gotten used to it and normally just mute the sound, but today I decided to listen to it and my computer started playing the audio to what sounded like the first 5-10 minutes or so of a movie. It started off with this guy panting and it sounded like he was running maybe or something and he was reciting a passage from the Bible (something about fearing no evil and stuff) and then there was a loud noise (which I think was probably a gunshot). Then I heard a conversation between two characters and I remember they said something about a paper in a Bible and a quote something like this: "Then you know what this means. We don't have to obey the rules anymore. We make our own rules." And then my computer stopped playing the clip. I've searced this quote in Google and stuff but I can't find out what the movie is. Please help. Thanks.
1 AnswerMovies8 years agoHave I messed up my metabolism?
I am a 14 year old girl, 5 feet tall, and 111 pounds. I was at around 125-130 pounds and decided I wanted to lose weight last summer, so I started eating 1200 calories and walking every day. Gradually, I started exercising more and started losing weight (about 4-5 pounds a month), but its really hard for me to lose weight now. I want to get down to around 100 pounds, but I'm only losing about a quarter to half a pound per week, even though I net 1200 a day. I thought about getting a personal trainer, but don't know if they would make me eat more. I wish that I had started off eating more, because I'm afraid to eat over 1200 a day, because I know I would freak out if I gained any weight. I tried eating about 1400-1500 a day for about a week and gained a pound, then went back to 1200 and lost it again. I'm just afraid that I'll never be able to eat normally again. Any tips?
1 AnswerDiet & Fitness8 years agoI don't fit in with other Christians?
Ok, so, I am a 14 year old girl and really close to God, but I'm pretty quiet and consider myself a loner. I have a few friends, but nobody I'm super close with. I've never really had any friends at church and recently changed churches to go to my friend's church. She's probably the best friend I have, but I'm not super close with her either. I joined this small group and am trying to get involved in church because I know that we're not meant to be alone, but I just feel so out of place. Honestly, the only time I ever feel good about myself and like I belong is when I'm alone in my room studying the Bible and praying. When I'm at church or in some social situation involving the people at church, I always feel really awkward and can't wait to get out. I know that I'm pretty mature for my age and don't have many common interests with other girls, Christian or not (I love horror movies, zombies, The Walking Dead, action movies and stuff like that while other girls seem to only care about cute guys, romance, and One Direction) and that I have different views on a lot of things that the stereotypical "conservative Christian" would criticize me on (by this I mean that I question things in the Bible a lot and don't believe the rules matter much, but that its only about your relationship with God and why you do things, not what you do). I also don't think gory movies and stuff are bad and I know God has called me to be a writer (kinda like my "role model" I guess you could say Ted Dekker) and to change the way "Christian" entertainment is. I'm just wondering if anyone out there feels the same way as me or has any advice. Thanks.
3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoSuggestions for a good book series?
I am a 14 year old girl, but I don't like a lot of young adult novels since they're all the same. My favorite author is Ted Dekker. My favorite series is The Circle. I love Harry Potter, but hate the Hunger Games and Twilight. I like lots of action, thrillers, and sometimes horror, as long as its not stupid. I also like apocalyptic and survival stories.
I don't like romance; I don't mind if there is a little, but lots annoys me, if you know what I mean. I don't like lots of cussing or sex scenes or anything like that, which is why I normally read Ted Dekker, but want to read something different. I want a series I'm going to get into and actually care about the characters, like my favorite tv show, The Walking Dead. Also, the series needs to have a good ending, since most books are ruined for me by the ending. It would also be cool if it had a strong female lead that isn't annoying, since my favorite characters are always guys because the girls usually annoy me, but this isn't a necessity. Basically I'm looking for an awesome series with a good plot line and cool characters. Any suggestions.
10 AnswersBooks & Authors8 years agoIs Maximum Ride a Good series?
I have heard mixed things about it. I'm not really sure what it is about, but my friend who read it said it was good until the fourth or fifth one or something like that and then it got stupid. I like things like thrillers and lots of action, and a good plot line. My favorite author is Ted Dekker, I love Harry Potter, but hate the Hunger Games. Do you think I would like it and what is it about?
