My HP laptop isn't connecting to the internet?
I have had my laptop for about a year and a half. It was working fine until about 2 weeks ago. It started having trouble connecting to wifi. I'd play with it and use the troubleshoot, restart it and it would start working again. However, that doesn't seem to work anymore. Airplane mode is not on. It will show full connection, I'll try and go on the internet and it will just try to connect but never does. I'll disconnect the wifi and try to connect again, and it will say "can not connect to internet". I'll troubleshoot the internet connection, it will give me fill connection but won't let me go on the internet. I'll do the same thing but troubleshoot the network adapter. Same thing. Can someone help me fix this problem?
I reset me whole laptop once but forgot how to do that. I would like to give that a try before I go out and buy a part if someone can walk me through that. Thank you.

Try ethernet and see if that works. If it does it something to do with computers wireless system.
If it don't it might be your network. Call your provider, or something with the computers connection settings.

Hit start>Run>Type in "cmd"> Type in ipconfig /all
What is your ip address, subnet mask, and gateway address?
If you see like 169.254.x.x, then you are not being assigned a proper ip address from your router
Can other people get internet connection off of your wifi?
If not, reset the modem.
If it shows that you are connected to the wifi and it finds no issues with your modem.
Perform a winsock reset.
Run the command prompt as administrator
and type in this:
netsh winsock reset
netsh int ipv4 reset

Does it connect on internet with ethernet cable and keep connection ? If you are loosing connection with cable as well that you have faulty router or modem . Even better if you can take laptop from a friend and see if it keeps dropping connection as well than for sure you would know if it is laptop problem or modem problem .
