Whats so good about KISS?

Musically: nothing

But, they are masters of marketing, and know how to entertain.

Say4 has it nailed. They are not great musically, or as musicians. Marketing and hype are their things. They're your average party band that came up with a gimmick that put them higher than they ever should have been. They were actually about to lose their recording deal when they did the live album that put them over the moon. In those days, live albums were thought to be the kiss of death, pun intended, but that was the only way people got what they were about. From then on, it was all hype and glitz, and it worked. Almost all these fakers these days owe a debt to them for paving the way for no talent wannabes to make a buck in the biz.

KISS took glam rock to a new level. They brought power and pure rock n roll to the stage with there shows. For about five years during the 70s they were the biggest band in the world. Selling out stadiums of 100 thousand plus all over the world. They had comic books (put there own blood in the ink) movies, and all types of merchandising. It is not all hype glitz. You don't stick around the music business for 40 years without having talent and ability.

Their music sounds good. Sure people might hate them for their make up and music, but it's all an opinion.

KISS isnt really that good. People go to their concerts partly for the music but mainly for the show.

There's noting remarkable about them as musicians and song writers, but you have to remember, it's rock n roll, not brain surgery. Their songs were simple, and you could dance to them. What more do you need?

They're way better than Nickelback.

They breathe fire on stage and wear the largest platform shoes ever made, and Gene Simmons has a tongue that reaches down to his navel.
