Installation of Led Recessed lighting without the Housing?

Checked your light and I think it is a MR16 spotlight, and used as led recessed/ceiling light.

A can housing or fixture will make your recessed light bulb safe and last longer, so I would advice to install with a housing.

Of course it will work without it,

Does anyone know of led lights that have their own can? It seems like overkill for me to half to fill my attic with the bulky steel cans used for traditional lights.

I want something that is ic rated and can be in contact with insulation, but smaller than traditional 120v cans.

The led light fixtures come in either contact with insulation or non contact with insulation. (Wall or attic insulation.) the latter needs some kind of separation from the insulation, i.e a can.

The light is probably not UL listed, but if it was, you could not install it without all its trim without voiding its listing.

That work must legally be done by a tradesman, and you obviously have no idea, so get one in and don't do it yourself and kill yourself!
