Because it is stupid. I watched it for the first time today and my conclusion is that people laugh at it and it spreads through social media. It is utterly retarded and that is the draw. I doubt (and hope) people actually put the song on their MP3 players. I agree with you that it is quite dumb even by pop standards.

to be honest the song is hilarious but has some truth behind.Think how stupid the lyrics are...have you hear many stupid song on the radio and wonder why its so popular?
