About the U.N. saying to never smack a child for disciplinary reasons?
Scripture says it is not only wrong but non discipline will create a problem child...

I haven't heard that, but it's easy to see the results of no discipline and the scriptures you mentioned are good.

Not spanking a child only causes problems. Spanking is a good form of discipline that has worked for a very long time

Spanking is not discipline, it is punishment. They are very different. Spanking causes psychological problems and increased anger. The Bible says that parents should discipline their children, and guide them (the 'rod' is a shepherd's rod, which shepherds used to guide their sheep away from danger, not to hit them!). Sadly some parents use punishments, and some use neglect... the best parenting is fully engaged, with the true discipline (same root as 'disciple') that involves gentle guidance, explanations, discussions and so on, in a context of unconditional love and mutual respect.
Every person I know who was raised in a punishment-free home turned out just fine, so long as the parents were there all the time, guiding and discussing issues as they arose.

What's the purpose of discipline? Is it to help a child grow into an adult who is well adjusted and able to function in today's society? Then you would need to select a tool which is relevant to today's society.
Anyway, how did you feel when your parents smacked you?

That's actually funny, considering the high percentage of violent thugocracies among the UN member nations.
And they are condemning SPANKING. Hee hee...

That's the best excuse you can come up with to hit a child? Scripture?
That's weak, it basically tells me you don't have any actual real life arguments for your position. You DO know that argument from authority is considered a fallacy, right?

If you're not going to smack for bad behaviour, then why else would you smack? The fun of it lol?

spanking is very wrong why would you want to inflict pain on your child? thats pure abuse and you deserve to get your kids taken off you if thats the case .. if you have to resort to spanking then your a failure as a parent... there are loads of other ways to teach your child right from wrong. my child gets put into time out and gets his favorite things taken off him
