How to use a Chinese laptop in America?

So I picked up a new laptop while I was in China studying abroad and I just returned to the US today but I can't use my laptop because the plug isn't the same shape as the US outlets.

What can I do?

Read the ratings on the "power brick". Chances are it's rated for 110 - 240 VAC, 50 - 60 Hz. If so, your only problem is the plug.

Chances are you can unplug the "mains" cord at the power brick, too. Unplug it, and take it to Best Buy, Staples or any other store that sells tech stuff, and buy a new mains cord for U.S. use.

    This is easy and cheap.

Go to best buy, or radio shack, and look for a power converter. I had a similar issue while going over to Japan.

Foreign countries use different electric protocols, like we have 12v, 115v etc, theirs are different , so these converters should be able to attach to the end of the coord and be compatible with our outlets, likewise if going over seas, pick up one before going, really helps.

    1. Buy an American cable (online or resellers)

    2. Wall adapter

    3. Cry

    4. Eat it and cry.

    5. Manage to get your dick stuck in the ceiling fan.

Source(s): only methods 1 and 2 are legit if you didn't know
