is it bad to get sent home after 2 hours of work?

It's snowing a lot outside, so there aren't a lot of people at McDonald's. I was working the drive thru then a manger comes up to me and says you can go home. I had only worked 2 hours. I asked if she was sure and she said yeah so I clocked out. I feel bad that I only worked 2 hours. I keep thinking that they're sending me home because I'm not doing much because there was nothing for me to do. I feel like they are mad at me or went to rid of me or something. I also keep wondering if they are going to ask other people to leave early too. I need your opinion on this, is it bad that they told me to leave after only 2 hours of work.

Not at all. At this point it is more expensive for them to keep paying you if there is nothing for you to do. They are actually losing about eight dollars an hour by keeping you there when they aren't making any profit. Its purely business.

It's a violation of your rights as a worker. If an employer has insisted you come to work for less than 4 hours, they ought to pay you 4 hours wages regardless. This depends on where you live as countries like the United States have different labor laws depending how much the state legislature cares about workers and what type of protections the workers of the area have earned through their collective bargaining efforts.

Bad weather means little business is what it sounds like. Global Warming is over and all seasons have returned to normal Naturally so winter of the 1960's and 1970's before Global Warming is what you need to get used to. Nothing else. Mike

They sent you home because business is slow. If the business is busy and they sent you home, then something is not right. It's quite a common thing to keep their overhead and operating cost low and justified if too few customers coming in. '

When this happens at my work there's a strict rotation of who gets to go home, I'm sure it's nothing personal.
