Is it easy to get transportation FROM Disney/EPCOT?
My mother and I are going to Orlando in April and one of our stops is going to be EPCOT. We shouldn't have much trouble getting to EPCOT - either the hotel will have something or we can take a cab or that Lynx bus in a pinch but what about getting back to the hotel FROM EPCOT. We're staying on International Drive.
We come from small town Midwest so hailing a cab isn't something we're used to (I've done it once in 30 years) and we don't want the hassle or expense of a rental car.

Taxis in Orlando - It is exactly the same - Hailing a cab is practically unknown. You either phone for a taxi or have the hotel do it. At Epcot if you can ask Guest Services to tell you where the taxis are or how to get one.
No taxis will be cruising around Epcot looking for fares. International Drive is more than 12 miles long, so it is impossible to tell you how much the fare will be - but probably over $30

There is a taxi stand at Epcot, just ask guest relations or a cast member to point it out.
IMO you'll have more of a problem getting from your hotel to Epcot. The hotel may "have something" but it's likely to arrive late (after 9 am) and may stop at several other hotels on the way. I have never used Lynx but Orlando is not renowned worldwide for their public transport. I used their trip planner with the Best Western near I-drive and Sand Lake as a starting point and it estimates 1 1/2 hours for the trip. Obviously your hotel may differ, it would be best to check that out ahead of time.
Overall, though....If you are staying off property it's generally more hassle and expense NOT having a rental car.

I would call up Mears Transportation and arrange to be picked up- call a day or two ahead of time
They have a web site and are the number one transportation company in the area
