Can I install the same applications and software on Linux Mint as I can on Ubuntu?
I have switched to Linux because I hate the new windows 8, but I also hate the Ubuntu interface.I did not like any of the ubuntu spin offs either. I was wondering if I could still use all the programs that are on Ubuntu if I switch to linux mint. Alternatively, would I still find the same support and free stuff on Fedora as I do on Ubuntu?

Mint works well and uses the same software libraries as Ubuntu, so yes, you can get and use all the same software - but the user interface is far better. I have a laptop with XFCE edition, which is light and fast, and another with Cinnamon, which is both good-looking and works well.

Yes, you can.
You would be able to install mostly everything not found within the Fedora Repositories from source. The only things you would not want to install on Fedora (or anything not derived from ubuntu) would be something which is Ubuntu specific e.g., Ubuntu tweaks.
If you are looking for a distro which has the same to more software selection than Ubuntu, go with either Debian http://www.debian.org/ (which ubuntu is based off of) or Arch Linux https://www.archlinux.org/ (which has a massive Community Repository [AUR https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Arch_User_Rep... \ Antergos http://antergos.com/ if you want an easy way of installing Arch Linux).
You may also be interested in the Korora Project https://kororaproject.org/ which is based on Fedora but made more user Friendly.

You can use Mint and still run all the same software packages has you can with all Linux OS's Personaly I'm not a lover of Buntu, or Mint. Mint do have a great users forum so if you use mint user their forum All linux distributions have their own forums You should All Ways use the users forums for questions, Not Yahoo Answers,
If you have never visited Distrowatch for the latest Linux releases then here is their web address

Linux Mint is derived from Ubuntu, and should run all of the same software.
I don't like Ubuntu's "Unity" desktop, either. There are other choices: you can install the XFCE or KDE desktops under Ubuntu, or use one of the variations that use those desktops by default: Xubuntu, or Kubuntu.

Yes but you should use the linux mint software manager and not the ubuntu software manager.
