I'm thinking about taking a TEFL course and would like to know if anyone here has ever done this?

If so...did you do it online or in the country you wanted to work? Does age make a difference in getting a job doing this?

I did a TESL course and got my first teaching job at 59 years of age. It was in China. Do you have a bachelor's degree? Many countries require it before you can legally teach.

Probably the most widely recognized TESL qualification is the CELTA. It only takes a month or so. What ever you do, DO NOT take a course that does not include a practicum with real English learners.

The course I took was a full academic year. I could have done it in less than half the time and for less money.

I'd either take the course (in-class) in your home country or online. Some countries have age limits for visas. You should contact some schools (jobs) and ask them. Many schools do prefer younger teachers.
