Why is Ben Bishop getting no love for Team USA?
Tampa Bay Lightning's goalie Ben Bishop, is currently ranked within the top 5 in EVERY goaltending stat this season. He's a solid netminder and while he may be inexperienced, I don't see why he shouldn't be at least the 3rd goaltender for Team USA in Sochi next year. Not to mention he's basically Godzilla on skates.

When a team has a wealth at a position the tendency is to go with experience.
Of the top eight teams in the Olympics. Most will go with the obvious best NHL goalie with the best record. Finland will start Rask and Lehtonen. Czech Republic will use Mazanek and a local or Sedlucek from the KHL. Sweden will go with experience in Lundqvist and Lehrner as number two. Russia will be hard pressed but I guess Goalie Bob and Varlamov will be he choice. Switzerland will use Hiller and Berra, and Slovakia will start Halak with Budaj on the ready. But Canada and the USA with lots to chose from will be confused. The USA has had 14 US born goalies start in the NHL this year and Canada has had 30. Picking the top two or three from these pools becomes difficult not because there isn't a good pick but which is the best pick?
For the US I'd go with a healthy Quick, Miller and Schneider. If Quick is unable to go I'd lean toward Howard as a replacement.
Canada is Luongo, Price and Crawford, even though there are many with better numbers.

I am not convinced team USA isn't taking a very long hard look at him. Quick is a lock based on prior performance and the international experience. Miller looks like he will earn the 2nd spot again based partly on this year and mostly on previous big ice experience. Then comes the wildcard choice. Team USA knows this is likely Millers last serious run at the Olympics so whoever they choose probably is done in part with consideration towards the 2018 games. The 3rd goalie almost never plays other than blowout games but nothing beats getting the experience of the bigger sheet of ice and the ability to understand and stay calm under the huge stage....which makes a younger goalie a very real consideration. Lack of experience is a factor but then again every one of them at one point lacked experience. I would not be at all surprised to see Bishop named the #3, after Quick and Miller there really isn't one other guy who stands out so far as having a big lead in the chase for that last spot. I don't get a vote but if David Poile and team USA want to give me a call I would be more than happy to suggest giving Bishop the 3rd spot. The only way to get experience at anything is to get opportunity....he has done more to earn that opportunity than any of the other contenders so far.

He has been having a good season for Tampa Bay but really before this season, he wasn't that well known in the previous years, however I do think that he should be getting huge consideration from the GM of USA (Dave Poille). I think that the goalies that will go to the Olympics are Quick (LA), Miller (BUF) and Anderson (OTT) but you will never know right

Agreed with the others, not much experience.
By the way, Olaf Kolzig has the first claim on Godzilla...

Basically no experience, But USA will be contenders, That's why Subban needs to be on team Canada to get under their skin.

I think its because this is really his first good year and he hasn't "proved" enough. I personally think he should be the third string behind Miller and Quick
