Why is the water pressure so low in our shower, and how can it be fixed?
I've been staying with my grandparents for some time due to circumstances beyond my control, and I have observed several annoying technical peculiarities about their house. One of the more irksome is their water pressure. In the kitchen, up until just a few days ago, the water pressure in the sink faucet was way too high - it would splatter everywhere if we turned the sink all the way on. In contrast, the shower has such low pressure that it is almost unusable. All the other sinks and such seem fine. My grandad, not being the sort who actually confronts issues when they occur, denies the problem even exists.
A few days ago, my grandad had the entire kitchen sink, faucet, and garbage disposal replaced because the drain was clogged. Since then, to my amazement, the pressure in the kitchen sink has gone down to normal levels. It has gotten me wondering what is causing the issue in the shower and how it might be fixed. I know it isn't the nozzle because I have tested it.

I would replace the shower head first of all as the calcium build-up could be blocking the nozzles even if it looks good so remove the shower head completely and run shower...see if the flow is good. There are valves behind the shower faucet (inside the walls) on most all shower installations; depending on the brand. Remove the knob(s) and the cover on shower wall ( you should b able to c the screws) there will b 2 valves that can b adjusted anti-clockwise to open and reverse to close...close both completely (b careful not to over tighten) then re-open and run shower. Debris from the main supply could be trapped in these valves and this procedure could help to clear it.
Good luck.

It is most probably the cold tank that refills the hot tank is very low on water. This can be caused by a jammed ball valve float. It is this cold tank which gives you the hot water pressure.

If you have galvanized piping you may need to replace them with copper. Galvanized pipe gets corroded when they get old thus limiting the water flow to your shower head.

If you can't afford to replace that shower head, remove it and soak it in vinegar overnight to remove the calcium buildup.
