Do I need antivirus for PowerPC iBook?

I have an OLD iBook I'd like to get going again to get the feel of mac before I upgrade to the newest MacBook. I'd like to surf the internet on it a little bit and just kinda mess around with it. I WILL be doing emailing and sorts on this so I would like to know if I need antivirus now. I know back in the day when a PowerPC type of iBook was popular you DIDN'T need to get one, but I've heard concerns that there are now virus out for that platform. I'd like to play it safe.

So IF I absolutely NEED to have one, which one (preferably a free one) do I go with?

For such old old OLD platform as that. I won't even bother. If the emailing you speak of is through a Web interface that isn't even related to your end.

I am not sure even there's option you can have. Any anti-malware tool is likely what you ever going to see.

Getting feel of Mac don't make much sense to me, OS X is a complete rewrite on UNIX license after Apple concluded the mess of inhouse work is so messy it isn't worth to upgrade; hence OS X have few things OS 9 don't have.

I have 36yrs of computer experience and know that anything of Mac's three years old are not supported so the users can't update/upgrade the operating system. That's Mac's way of forcing users to buy the latest Mac devices,

Microsoft do the same thing with their operating systems, I have two old Dell laptops one is13yrs old that used to run Vista, the other one is10yrs old run Xp, None can run windows 7 or 8, I learned that windows and Mac are not the only compter operating systems in the world. Today both of these Laptops are running the worlds fastest latest December 2013 Free computer operating system, You too have to learn that you can run the latest December Free operating system on your old Power PC IBook, Visit these websites, and start learning.

Websites to visit these are jusst a few alternative operating systems that will run on the Power PC IBook check them out.

Going online is not that safe , look what happen to Target stores ,malware is into all laptops , pc and tablets ,smartphones all can be hit by it, a good one is *avast or avg both are free but don't really offer good realtime protection unless get the paid for version still offer good protection
