Tattoo Help, is this a bad idea?

I want to get a tattoo on both heels, one saying "Keep Calm", the other "Heels Down" (it's a horse thing, for you non-horsey people). My problem is I am a bagger at a grocery store. I am on my feet for 6-8 hours a day, have to wear close toed shoes, and do sweaty work the majority of my shift. Would this tattoo be a bad idea for now? Even when I get promoted, I still have to stand all day with close toed shoes, though the sweaty work will be erased.

Would it help if I wore extra thick socks, extra thin socks, wore bandaids over the tattoo, what?

It wouldn't be a good idea. Foot tattoos in general are a bad idea because most people, like you, need to wear tight shoes or be constantly on their feet for work.

You would likely need to stay off your feet and avoid footwear (including thin socks) COMPLETELY for a period of time- will the grocery store let you take at least a week (but probably longer, ask the tattoo artist) off from work while the tattoo heals?

And even after it heals, the sweat and friction regularly inflicted on our feet would still put the tattoo at risk of early fading- especially on the heels. So you need to be prepared to really baby your feet both in and out of work, and/or pay for frequent retouches. It varies from person to person (I have friends with 3-year-old foot tattoos that look new, and with ones that look 50), but generally it's a high-risk area.
