What is the difference between 60Hz and 120Hz on a television other than the price?
Was thinking of getting a flat screen for my brother and saw there was a price difference between 60Hz and 120Hz but not sure what the "Hz" is all about.
Thanks!

"Hz" is named after early technology pioneer Heinrich Hertz. In modern usage, it translates as "cycles per second" or "times per second."
For a modern TV, the term Hz applies to 3 different applications. The one you're referring to is the refresh rate: the number of times per second the image in drawn on the screen. The higher rate (120 Hz) is desirable for minimizing fast-motion blur, typical with sports and game boxes.
