operating system not found?

I took the back off my laptop to clean out the fan. Only thing i removed was the screws. Put it all back together exactly the same. Turned the computer back on and it said"operating system not found". Any ideas why? (Sony Viao i5 )

Update:

So apparently i jogged loose my hard drive connection. Plugged it back in and works fine now. My fan still sounds like ****. But at least it loads up now. Thanks for the input Alex. Your opening line made me want to reopen it and double check the connections.

You may have nudged something. There's a reason it's all inside of a tight shell; electronic memory is very delicate. Just by touching wherever the memory is stored there is a chance of corruption. In this case, something happened to your operating system. In case you don't already know what that is, it's the thing your computer runs on; just as the name implies, the computer uses this 'system' to 'operate'. If there's no operating system, you can't really do anything about it other than get a new laptop.
