How is internet connection affected if connected via router?
Currently, my pc is connected via an etherned cable to the modem, providing 1.0Gb/s. I consider speed very important, as all my work needs sending very large amounts of data from device to device. I will be getting a router to connect my other devices (laptop, tablet, phone) and not have to set up LAN networks all the time. So I am just curious about the speed, since my pc does not have wireless capabilities, how much is cable speed affected, if I change:

Modem --> PC
to
Modem --> Router --> PC

The amount that you will be affected should be very minimal, yes there will be a difference but very very small.
Factors that affect your speed.
- Length of cable.
- Having a Router can affect it but as I said very minimal.
