Repentance involves both mind and heart. The wrongness of the course or act must be recognized, and this requires an acknowledgment that God’s standards and will are righteous. Ignorance or forgetfulness of his will and standards is a barrier to repentance.

To repent means that we change our attitude toward past or intended wrongdoing. It means that we feel sorrow or regret and turn away from a sinful course. If we have sinned seriously but have taken the necessary steps to show that we have really repented.

In the Bible genuine repentance involves a sincere change in attitude, a heartfelt regret over any wrongs committed. Where appropriate and possible, repentance is accompanied by an effort to make restitution to the victim of the sin.

Where there is no such repentance, God does not forgive.

The first part of being sorry is to actually be sorry.

    Then to apologise.

Job done. No god required. Just be sorry for what you did, be genuine about it, apologise, and never do it again.

    The christian version is:

    Get drunk kill an orphan

    Hire a good attourney

    Tell the priest your sorry

    Cry because your in jail

people see u cry thinking its cuz u repent

5 years later get out of jail

    go drinking to celebrate

    get drunk kill an orphan

    Call the priest repent again.

This Christan repenting sounds kinda crap to me.

    Dear Friend,

First a person will be 'convicted' by the Holy Spirit that they have done something they consciously 'know' they shouldn't have.

Second, they are then 'convinced' that they have violated God's standard and will ask for forgiveness for what they've done.

Thirdly, to 'repent' means to "STOP" practicing (committing) "willful" sin.

Jesus overcame every temptation known to man through the Power of the Holy Spirit. When we read about Jesus being tempted in the wilderness for 40 days by Satan, we learn that Jesus used the Word of God in His defense, which must have made an impact on Satan, because he left. And... when Jesus came OUT of the wilderness, He came out in FULL Power of the Holy Spirit. Think about that.

So, when we learn that the burner on the stove top is 'hot', we STOP putting our hand on it. When we learn through God's Word what displeases a Holy God, we STOP doing those things by allowing the Holy Spirit to have ...dominion OVER us. He will the "keep" you, "protect" you from practicing (committing) willful sin in your life.

Read God's Word daily. As Him what it is He wants you to learn, and how to apply what you've learned in your ...daily life. The Holy Spirit will commune with your spirit...spiritual truth.

It hurts me when I hear Christian's say, "I'm a sinner." Or, "I still sin." They are in ...bondage and not set FREE. Jesus came to set the captive...Free. Jesus told the woman who was caught in adultery, "Go, and sin NO MORE!"

1 John 3:9 tells us that "no one who is born of God will continue to sin" so anyone who is born again will not have a sinful lifestyle.

"Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God."

2 Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a NEW creature: OLD things are passed away; behold, all things are become ...NEW."

Now, we have sins that we 'unconcsiouly' may commit, so we need to ask the Lord to examine us daily as in Psalm 139:23, 24 which says, "Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:

And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." The Holy Spirit will reveal things that we need to confess, ask forgiveness for and ...repent of (stop doing).

    Tender blessings,

You do whatver it takes to make things right with God. Begin by confessing your sins and look to him for guidance.

2Cr 7:10 For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There's no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death.

2Cr 7:11 Just see what this godly sorrow produced in you! Such earnestness, such concern to clear yourselves, such indignation, such alarm, such longing to see me, such zeal, and such a readiness to punish wrong. You showed that you have done everything necessary to make things right.

close your eyes, spin around 40 times in a counterclock-wise direction while chanting "Wonderous is our great blue ship that said around the mighty sun and joy to everyone who rides along, chooka chooka choo la ley."

    Remember COUNTER clock-wise!
