Should Bears get rid of Jay Cutler?

He has been performing sub par in his tenure with the bears. In my opinion, they need to find young, gifted defensive players because ithe bears defense was horrid this season. Plus their injuries are. Signaling that lance Briggs and Tillman May end their career soon. The bears have only made it to the playoffs ONCE since cutler came to chicago

Update:

@slave2christ, I'm a bears fan too... Have been for 9 years

Cutler has never been a good NFL quarterback -- check his numbers in Denver if you don't believe me. Still, compared to the crap that the team has had at the position throughout its history, I can see why some fans would think Cutler is a good QB.

What the Bears should do is sign Cutler and then trade him, immediately, for help on defense. There are plenty of teams with worse quarterbacks than Cutler, as hard as that may be to believe, and I'm sure they'll be willing to give him a chance.

And the Bears should get something for having to put up with this chain-smoking, gutless, quitter for the last five years.

Cutler truly is a piece of crap.

As a Bears fan I just want Cutler out. Mediocrity is not worth an extension.

Hell, I want everyone gone. Rebuild completely.

Maybe you can find a sleeper in the draft.

8-8 will get you a 15-20 draft pick, which could maybe land you a decent QB. Bridgewater won't sink past top 10, will he? (pun intended). Russel Wilson and Nick Foles were 3rd rounders.

Defense & coaching needs to be addressed primarily. If a better option comes along take it. If not, one more year.

Packers can suck it!! They just get lucky year after year!! First Brett Favre the Aaron Rogers, I mean give me a break. Green bay just has more money to f****** get all the good players!! If Chicago had that much money, hell we would have us a good team on our hands. But no so we suck it up and stil manage to do a hell of a lot better than packers could in our situation. Jay cutler is the best QB we ever had!!! And now we don't have Tillman, Hester, Urlacker, and many others!!! Hell we only have Jay, Matt, Kyle, and Alshon how do you expect us to win with only 4 decent starters ?!?!

Yes, the Chicago Bears should let Jay Cutler walk. The Bears would have better off keeping Josh McCown for 2 years, at a much cheaper price, while they looked for their next franchise quarterback. Plus, with the money they would have save, they could have built a team that could have contended in the NFC.

Source(s): Unfortunately, the Bears signed Cutler to a 7-year contract: http://espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/story/_/id/10231142... (I guess 4-12 seasons will be the norm in Chicago.)

Trades don't happen often in the NFL. I don't think the Bears get a compensation for someone signing Cutler, but **** I mean if you can sign a Mike Vick for dirt cheap and possibly spend the draft on Defense I think they could try to go the cheap route with QB rather than over pay... it hurts teams way too much everyone thinks their QB needs or deserves to be ELITE and paid like a Brady, well Brady should be paid like Brady-Cutler should be paid like Cutler, even arguably equal or better QBs like Matt Ryan, Tony Romo, Joe Flacco, all want to be PAID like elite qbs.. and how well did these contracts pan out??

If I am a fan of a team, I want my team to above all do whats best and be smart, these teams reaching, throwing money at a QB thinking if "He's our guy!!" its not going to help your team. I think the bears could get by with other options at QB and use that money else where....

The Bears front office is not going to sign Cutler to that huge Brady-esque contract he's going to demand. Cutler is a good quarterback, but he's not that top echelon QB that folks like Brady, the Mannings, or Rodgers are. I also agree in the offseason the Bears need to shore up the defense and maybe go after a QB in the draft. I'd like to have someone like Teddy Bridgewater from Louisville run the Bears offense.
