  • Idea for putting a stop to flopping in soccer...whaddya think?

I am American, BTW...I do enjoy watching soccer and not one of these Ann Coulter wanna-bes who hate it.

To me, the only way you stop flopping is to have an impact on the game, not afterwards. Punishing the player after the game makes no sense as what's done is done. In the NBA and college basketball, officials can use video replay to check whether a player committed a flagrant and/or open path foul. If there is a foul during the game that seems questionable, allow the refs the chance to review it on video. If it is a legit foul, then penalize the offending team accordingly. If the flop is in, award a free kick to the other team.

You could allow each team one challenge per half to use for those circumstances, during which the clock will stop so the refs can review it and not penalize anyone extra time. The technology is there, it should be used.

    Your thoughts?

  • What If I Can't Support Either Side/ISIS vs. Iran?

I consider myself an American who supports doing the right thing and don't want to see innocent people being slaughtered and held under Sharia law in Iraq and eventually Syria. This is what ISIS wants to create, plus they will definitely turn Iraq into a training ground for more terrorists and they have vowed another 9/11-type attack on America.

On the other hand, the Maliki government, which is merely a puppet for Iran, is not exactly something I want to support either. They didn't want us there, so we said fine, we're off this floor like a virgin on prom night. Now, they are begging us to stay because Iran knows that at some point they'd have to confront a Sunni group that hates the Shiites. I find it abhorrent that we would even consider working with an enemy to which "Death to America" is as popular a slogan as "Where's the beef" was here.

What to do when there is no really good option. This is a real-life episode of South Park where our options are a giant douche and a turd sandwich. I refuse to side with Iran, but can't picture letting them go jihad on each other being a good thing in the long run.

  • Are you perfectly OK with a s/o that is not totally feminine? (Or masculine in regards to men)?

Interesting discussions around here...I don't get into nor really care for the MRA stuff, but am curious what people think in here.

My wife and I are both good at manual labor with tools, whether it's on cars. gardening, repairs and DIY projects around the house, etc. I didn't have to teach it to her, she was an only child of farmers so had to basically learn to help them with their livelihood. However, I know I get some grief because my wife is not afraid to get her hands dirty. Just today, both she and I are changing oil in our respective cars when our neighbor comes across the street to offer an invitation to their anniversary party. She is a wife and stay-at-home mom and the husband pretty much takes care of everything (working, projects, etc). She asks her if she's always changed oil, and my wife says yes. Our neighbor gets that bizarre smile on her face, one that says, "Ick, I'm glad I'm not that type of person." I interpreted it that way, anyway.

Up until recently, we've always had the idea of men being one way, and women being the other. Men, are you OK with a woman that is not that prototype girly-girl (for lack of a better phrase)? And ladies, if your man doesn't quite know his way around a tool-box, is that OK with you as well?

  • Before Everyone Got So Wound Up In The Comments of Pope Francis...Did They Stop To Realize...?

...that the core of Catholicism...it's dogma and policies if you will...are still the same. Yes, the Pope believes that we should be more focused on loving one another and helping the poor where possible. Yet, he has been on public record as saying that abortion is still unacceptable to the Church and that will never change. And, the stance on homosexuality and same-sex marriage (I personally have no dog in this fight) are still the same as well and that it goes against the teachings of the Church.

Ultimately, he is saying that it is our responsibility to take care of each other and love each other, but God will make the final call on our Judgment Day on whether we're going to be welcomed into Heaven. Makes sense to me. Yet, you have people that are calling the Pope Communist, soft, etc...because either A) They didn't bother to read or see the whole message or B) the hatred many of them already have for Catholicism (yes, there is a lot of blind, unadulterated hatred of Catholicism even from the many conservative talking heads that are evangelical Christians).

And if anyone questions...I'm an unapologetic conservative and have questions on things the Catholic Church has done or not done (such as I want priests that molested children to be held accountable and defrocked). Yet, what's wrong with loving each other and respecting one another and letting God decide what happens in eternity?

  • Thoughts On The Dixieland Match at Final Resolution?

I thought it was a different idea for a match having it start in a steel cage then having to climb the ladder. I can think of a few tweeks that need to be made, plus it would be more suited for a PPV format when you have more time rather than on TV to let the whole thing play out. Overall, it was a good idea and an interesting concept.

  • What does marriage mean these days? Does it mean what it used to?

My wife and I celebrated our 16th anniversary yesterday. We have three kids together, and it's been a good ride. Yes, we have our differences at times, and there are days where we want to kill each other but we're happy and enjoy what we have. Plus, we understand it's a lot of work to make a relationship go.

Everywhere I turn these days, it seems like people I run into are either not interested in getting married or they are getting divorced. I wonder why this is? Do some people not want to make the effort to make the marriage work, I can live with people not wanting to get married if they don't want to but why get married if you won't work on your relationship? Some relationships I have seen could have been resolved if both parties sat down and worked on it, but it seems like running was the better way for them.

Maybe I'm off-base here. I ask the fine folks of the Marriage-Divorce section of Y/A...is marriage what it used to be or has it changed?

  • Best Female Friend Married..How To Approach Husband?

Have an unusual situation here...at least for this group anyway.

I've been married almost 15 years...3 kids. Other than my wife, my best friend is a woman who I've known for many years. We are brother and sister practically. My wife has been supportive and my best friend also thinks highly of my wife and they have hung out on their own, as well as part of a group.

My friend married her boyfriend of several years finally...about time, lol. He's a good guy, and I'm very happy for them. The only times we've ever talked is when the four of us happen to be together or I was with the two of them. He does talk quite a bit when given the opportunity to open up.

I want to know how do I approach him and let him know that I want to consider him a friend also? It's a subject I broached with his wife a couple of times in the past, she said it was up to him for the most part. I also realize that now things definitely change with them tying the knot. Much like when I got married, my wife and I are a set and she comes with me. They are now a set, I don't get her without him. I want him to know that he is welcome to attend events that I invite my friend too (she's been active in my kids' lives as well, with birthdays and Christmas, etc). Perhaps it would be possible that eventually we can become friends on our own terms.

I come asking for sound (or somewhat sound) advice. What say you, fine folks of the Marriage forum?

  • Is El Rushbo El Finito?

Granted, I'm a conservative that doesn't believe Rush speaks for me. But he's got sponsors bailing on him, plus the fact that he actually issued an apology IMHO makes his views compromised now. He used to hammer relentlessly with no apologies, even refusing to give Obama any credit for getting the head of Bin Laden.

That being said, is Rush at the end of the line and will his show be cancelled? If so, when?

  • Who Else Should Be In The WWE HOF for 2012?

So far, we have the Four Horsemen, Edge, and Mil Mascaras. I have some ideas of who I'd like to see, but who else do you want to see be inducted this year?

  • We are 118 days away from Vincent Kennedy McMahon and the WWE Launching...?

...the WWE Network. Apparently they are shooting for at least 40 million homes to launch the network into, and might put some of the non Big 4 PPVs on its network for airing. I wouldn't mind their trying to do a Sportscenter type show like they talk about in the article, or doing shows right afterward where fans can ask questions and discuss RAW/Smackdown/PPVs on the air live. Here's the link to that and wondering who would be interested in watching WWE Network.

  • Help On Injuries In NBA 2K11 For Wii.?

My son and I are playing a season as the Knicks. Right now we have Gallinari out for 2 weeks with a lower back strain and Toney Douglas out for 4 weeks with an injured Achilles tendon. How are we able to make signings for other players to fill the roster and allow them to play until our players are healthy without releasing them?

  • RIP General Skandor Akbar?

I know a lot of people may not be familiar with his work, but I thought he was one of the greatest managers of all-time...PERIOD! He worked with many wrestlers like Kamala, Ted DiBiase (Million Dollar Man) and even Steve Austin when he first started in the business.

Three things stood out for me...one his interviews and the way he ran down his opponents, such as referring to Kerry Von Erich as "Horseface." He also was "responsible" for burning Hacksaw Jim Duggan with a fireball during a match against Kamala. But his greatest accomplishment to me is how he gained natural heel heat. He was a top heel in Bill Watt's old Mid-South and they used to hold a quarterly Super Show in the Superdome. One year, the New Orleans police showed up at his hotel room prior to the card and advised him there were serious threats against his life and they weren't sure they could guarantee his safety. They presented him a bullet-proof vest and advised him he wasn't going to be in the show without wearing it. THAT's heel heat!

RIP General (Jim Wehba), thanks for the memories. I hope everyone here not familiar with him gets the chance to check out some of his stuff on the Net to see what a real heel was like back in the day.

  • What if Osama Bin Laden put out a video now like he did before the 2004 election?

The 2004 election was still very close when Bin Laden put out a video telling America basically that their security depended on leaving Arab states alone. Some would say it was one of the reasons Bush pulled out a win over Kerry as Bush took a six-point lead in previously tight polls after the video came out.

Would it effect your vote if OBL puts out another "October surprise" in the days leading to the election?

  • How Do I Help My Son No Longer Be Afraid Of Weather?

A couple of months ago, I decided to invest in a weather radio for the house. The first night we had some major storms and the radio alert went off several times. Ever since then, my son who is 6 years old is scared to death about storms. The other night when I went to the window to see what rain was coming up, he panicked and asked me not to do so.

I know that I want my family to be safe from bad weather, but I want them to see it's not something to totally fear. How can I convince my son that we'll keep him safe?

  • Are The Owners And Union This Stupid?

Sounds like this week the owners will vote to opt out of the current CBA with the NFLPA. That means they're talking by 2011 a lockout by the owners on the players.

Labor issues in MLB, NBA, the NHL made the NFL King of the mountain since the mid-90s. The owners and players need to especially look at what MLB lost after the '94 strike, plus the NHL is forever relegated to minor sport status in the U.S. after the 2004-05 lockout (of which it lost me as a fan).

Would they actually consider a lockout with all the money both sides have made. Not to mention revenue sharing which allows the Green Bays to compete with the richer teams. The fans are less willing these days to put up with labor shortages, they could seriously lose a large amount of their fan base.

Is this not a big deal or something the league needs to avoid. 2011 will be here before we know it.

  • How Will WGA Strike Affect Wrestling Programming and Writing?

I know I'm ticked off that we're maybe losing "24" for this year, plus the idea of more reality shows makes me ready to hurl my TV through a window.

I was just curious as I haven't heard anything about this...how will the WGA strike affect the wrestling shows? I know some of the WWE writing staff were sitcom writers at one point, so don't know if any of them are with the WGA.

  • What Should It Take For Me To Become A NHL Fan Again?

OK...I want people to understand where I'm coming from here. Up until the '04-05 lockout, I loved the NHL. I still watch hockey at the Junior-A and high school level here and it's an awesome sport. After the lockout, I was pissed off as regardless of right or wrong they had two years to figure out how to split money between the owners and players without having to destroy an entire season to do it. When Jeremy Roenick made the comment that all Americans should kiss his *** regarding blame...that moment turned me off right there.

Since that day, I have not watched the NHL on television or in person. Where I live we have an AHL franchise and I refuse to go to those games. I love hockey, don't get me wrong...but when we've seen labor issues in the other three major sports I'm just fed up. I want to be an NHL fan again, but I'm still furious.

What should it take for me to become a fan again? One thing for sure, another lockout can't happen.
