Atheists why do you talk about god when he shouldn't matter to you at all?
I find it somewhat ironic that atheists continue to ask and answer questions on R&S when god/s don't even exist. Why do you get such a hard-on over something that shouldn't even matter to you at all? And if your intention is to show theist's how ignorant and childish their beliefs are, why do you resort to bickery, sarcasm and condensation to do so? You know that doesn't work right? If you are so rational and logical, why don't you respond in a logical and rational way instead of in an immature way (sarcasm, bickery, mockery, condensation)? If you respond that way because the theists also respond like that, doesn't that make you the same like them because you resort to that level? Why don't you actually take the time to post concrete evidence that shows the Bible/Quran/Torah or any other religious/holy book to be false? A fairytale? Doesn't atheism require just as much-if not more- faith than theists since you have no ABSOLUTE FACTS or PROOF to say God DOES or DOES NOT exist? You may respond that the burden of proof is on theists then logically isn't it illogical to come to an conclusion on the matter?
You guys didn't read my question did you? Is it so hard to give an actual answer that is thorough or you are just to lazy to do so?
"You can't prove Zeus can't exist'' that one made me laugh, you can't be serious. So God cannot exist because a god of thunder doesn't exist? That argument isn't even logical. It's already been proven how lightening and thunder starts and what causes it, from that it is obvious that a "god'' is not the deliberate force and process behind it as to how the greek mythology claims. The Bible says energy was creatively directed for the amazing processes and life in nature and the universe. Evolutionists and Big Bang theorists can't explain how energy is creatively diverted and directed like it is today and how it produced circumstances that support and maintain life. The creation account in the Bible hasn't been proven to be wrong. Evolution explains how we SURVIVED not how WE ARRIVED.
"There is no invisible pink dragons in my garden so how would they exist'' Obviously they wouldn't. Dragons produce fire, they are huge. If it were invisible it would still leave visible evidence that indicate one exists. Burnt flowers, plants and walls, unexplained large lizard like footprints, sounds of one roaring, unrecognisable faceas Etc. Since non of these are apparent it is logical to say one doesn't exist. We say an intelligent designer and creator is responsible for the creation of the universe. What is EVIDENT? Everything shows elements and principles of design, from the complex processes and systems in the universe and earth to the smallest atom. Laws that govern the universe, the prospect of life. These are not characteristics of chance and chaos. They are characteristics of an intelligent designer, organiser and creator. What scientist do you know of who actually produced life from nothing? (Cloning is not an example of this so don't bother) How
How is the above lacking the POSSIBILITY
a god exists, an intelligent creator, just
the possibility? To compare the a pink invisible dragon to an intelligent Creator is
both insane and illogical.
It is sad how relatively ignorant some of you atheists are. The Bible doesn't teach you will go to "hell" but it says death is a state of non-exist. If any of you actually read it in entirety you would know that. For the sake of summery it is a lie fabricated by the catholic church and is in fact, pagan in origin but obviously you have no clue of that so here are links

The Bible doesn't say the Earth is 6000 years old if you actually read genesis and not what creationists tell you. The hebrew word used for "day'' ( If you don't know Genesis is written in Hebrew) in definition means literally "a period of time'' not a literal day! Any theologian knows the above so get the educational facts instead of relying on the opinions of others.
"It has been proven for hundreds of years Moses did not exist.'' In fact it has not. Rather the scientists deemed the miraculous occurrences of the OT impossible on the basis that Moses did it himself although Moses states over and over again that is God who performed these miracles. By leaving God out on the possibility of this they already made a mistake because that is not what the Torah/ Bible says nor Moses, which are the only accounts for it. If God is responsible for the miracles then it is not illogical to say it is possible or that it happened. God's own laws don't dictate his own divine freedom, being an all powerful God, no laws or power can over power his own.
Atheists none of you answered ANY of the questions I brought up? Why do you keep dodging the question? I didn't ask for the defination of atheism or your position on theism. Those of you who say you have evidence that the Bible/Quran/Torah or any other major religious/spiritual book once again FAILED COMPLETELY at bringing CONCRETE evidence. By that it is clear to see that atheism requires just as much faith as I initially thought. It seems your reasons for being an atheist is psychological rather the scientific. (Theology is a science)

When asked to describe my thoughts on GOD and Religion my train of thought led me right to gravity. . .
You can’t see gravity, You can’t taste it, I just know one thing for certain, that it exists.
The mystery's of faith an GOD are beyond human comprehension
Faith concerns questions which cannot be settled by evidence.
I feel bad that if someone does not have faith they would want others to agree with them!
How can the universe create itself out of nothingness? Given the fact that the universe began to exist, it must have had a “cause” that originated it.Doesn't it make more sense to assume the existence of a Creation. The question is tricky because it sneaks in the false assumption that GOD came from somewhere and then asks where that might be. The answer is that the question does not even make sense. It is like asking, “What does blue smell like?” Blue is not in the category of things that have a smell, so the question itself is flawed. In the same way, GOD is not in the category of things that are created or caused. GOD is uncaused and uncreated—He simply exists.
We know that from nothing, nothing comes. So, if there were ever a time when there was absolutely nothing in existence, then nothing would have ever come into existence. But things do exist. Therefore, since there could never have been absolutely nothing, something had to have always been in existence. That ever-existing being is what we call GOD ,GOD is the un-caused Being that caused everything else to come into existence. God is the uncreated Creator who created the universe and everything in it.
The universe requires a cause because it had a beginning, GOD unlike the universe, had no beginning, so he doesn’t need a cause. Einstein’s theory of general relativity, which has much experimental support, shows that time is linked to matter and space. So time itself would have begun along with matter and space. Since GOD is the creator of the whole universe, he is the creator of time. Therefore He is not limited by the time dimension He created..@
Life without GOD is like an un- sharpened pencil it has no point..
You can't see the wind, but you know it is there because you can see what the wind is doing. You can know that the wind is there because you can feel it.GOD is like the wind, you can't see him

I think a lot of the atheists on here 'resort to bickery, sarcasm and condensation' because they are sick and tired of answering the same questions every day.
Christians on here (and notice how I keep saying 'on here', because the majority of atheists and Christians I come across in real life aren't nearly so pushy and irritating as on YA) are continually asked for proof of their religion, but can never provide it. The reason people keep questioning Christians is because no one has provided an answer that has any basis in fact - they just tend to get upset and shouty and quote random bible verses.
Why is it okay for Christians to keep questioning atheists if atheists can't question Christians? It shouldn't matter to a Christian if they are all going to burn in hell or not - if you really believe then why do you have to work so hard to convince others?
Atheists generally don't believe that holy books are 'false'. In the case of the bible (I don't know much about the other two) the point is that IT WAS NOT WRITTEN BY GOD. Or Jesus. It was written by a bunch of men. All these different texts and gospels were then hand picked by more men to be put into the bible (who knows what they left out?). Even among Christians there's so many different interpretations of the bible, with some people taking Genesis literally and some people treating in symbolically. The Bible is contradictory and hypocritical and raises a whole heap of questions, without proving anything. A holy man called Jesus may have existed at one time - that does not automatically mean that God exists.
Theres this little thing called 'science' which has proved (beyond any doubt) that the earth is not 6000 years old. That right there invalidates a hell of a lot of claims made my Christians. In the scientific world, you will never get experiments designed to prove that such and such a particle/element does not exist. You have to prove that it DOES exist. Christians can't. The same way you can't prove that I don't have an invisible pink dragon in my garden. You wouldn't believe me unless I could offer you definitive proof would you? So why should other people believe you?
You say 'logically isn't it illogical to come to an conclusion on the matter?'. Well, no, actually. If a scientist cannot prove the existence of something, then the logical conclusion is to assume it doesn't exist. I can't prove that I have an invisible dragon, so you will naturally assume it doesn't exist.
That's how simple it is. Thorough enough?
********EDIT******
Now to address your hypocritical responses the valid answers people have given you:
"So God cannot exist because a god of thunder doesn't exist? That argument isn't even logical. It's already been proven how lightening and thunder starts and what causes it, from that it is obvious that a "god'' is not the deliberate force and process behind it as to how the greek mythology claims"
But what if Zeus, as an invisible deity is controlling the energy to create thunder and lightning? Does this mean you accept that we were not 'created', since 'it's already been proven' how the universe and life on earth came into being?
Oh wait: "The creation account in the Bible hasn't been proven to be wrong. Evolution explains how we SURVIVED not how WE ARRIVED."
Sorry, but you can't tie the creation story of the universe being created in 7 days, and god creating Adam and Eve (i.e. the Bible's version of human's arrival) to the PROVEN evidence of the universe being billions of years old, and life forms evolving from a bacterial sludge to what we see around us. They directly contradict each other and you can't have both. You CANNOT fit both evolution and creation together.
As for my dragon? " If it were invisible it would still leave visible evidence that indicate one exists". Can you hear yourself? Where is the evidence of your invisible god, exactly? My dragon is magic. It doesn't need to leave footprints or burn things, and when it does, only true believers can see them.
"What scientist do you know of who actually produced life from nothing?" But we didn't come from nothing. We came from a wonderful combination of chemicals and elements in the dust of space.
"How is the above lacking the POSSIBILITY
a god exists, an intelligent creator, just
the possibility?"
It isn't lacking the possibility that a deity exists, but who says its your Christian one? There are hundreds if not thousands of creation stories, all as equally unbelievably as Genesis, so how can you say your god is the right one? Atheists aren't out here to DISPROVE a deity, they just aren't going to believe in something without proof.

Why do you get such a hard-on over something that shouldn't even matter to you at all?
- What matters is the psychopathic followers who insist on focing their fantasies into my class rooms.
If you are so rational and logical, why don't you respond in a logical and rational way instead of in an immature way (sarcasm, bickery, mockery, condensation)?
- It is difficult not to react to monumental absurdities on a different level.
If you are so rational and logical, why don't you respond in a logical and rational way instead of in an immature way (sarcasm, bickery, mockery, condensation)?
- If they responded to logical and reasonable or rational initinally then they would not be "believers" and atheists would not exist.
Why don't you actually take the time to post concrete evidence that shows the Bible/Quran/Torah or any other religious/holy book to be false?
- We have, but they don't "believe" it. Concrete eveidence is immaterial to them. Look at all of the science they dismiss since they do not 'believe" it. It has been proven for decades that Moses never existed, the bible is nothing more than a plagiarism of the Sumerian tablets and Noah's flood is pure fantasy. That doesn't stop them.
Doesn't atheism require just as much-if not more- faith than theists since you have no ABSOLUTE FACTS or PROOF to say God DOES or DOES NOT exist?
- Atheism does not say there is no god, brain dead fundies do. We say that there is no evidence for a deity, that is an absolute. No "faith" involved.
You guys didn't read my question did you?

Questions like this don't make any sense. Religion has been an integral part of the history of the human race for thousands of years. It's still inexorably bound with our culture and others around the world today. Some people are inspired by their religion to care for the poor while others use it to justify flying planes into buildings. So I have to wonder then why it is so hard for some people to understand why atheists would be interested in the subject or religion, one that affects them whether they believe in God or not.
"Is it so hard to give an actual answer that is thorough or you are just to lazy to do so?"
Try posting a question that meets that criteria. This one does not.
- A.MercerLv 77 years ago
I personally do not care one bit if you believe in a god but if you ever expect other people to share you believe then I do care. If you ever expect your belief in a god to be reflected in law, government, science,or public education then I care. If you ever expect your belief in a god justifies hatred, violence, discrimination, or other foul deeds then I care.
As for you attempt at trying to say that atheism requires faith, it boils down to this. Theists make a claim that a god exists however there is no evidence to support such a claim. Thus, atheists do not believe the claim. It is as simple as that. That is the same logic that is used to say that werewolves or leprechauns do not exist. I do not hear you trying to say that you have faith that they do not exist. No, you do not believe the claim that they exist.
- Chances68Lv 77 years ago
You have no absolute proof the Easter Bunny or Zeus does not exist, either, slick. Think about it.
More importantly, and more in direct response to the question you asked (as opposed to the tangential details): Because, religion continues to be forced upon the rest of us via legislation, and religious people continue to use their religion as an excuse to mistreat and disrespect others.
Simple, eh?

The only time my arguments result In a child like bicker is when Christians push to do so. They are so on fire with their religion they believe every one else is wrong. And I, am rarely wrong mate ;)
- Anonymous7 years ago
If religious people stop demanding that the world function as "God Wills," then I will (gladly) STFU.
But yourself in our position.....Suppose Muslims demanded that everyone in America convert to Islam. They started passing sharia law. They banned pork. They wanted to ban the construction of any new churches.
So, you (rightfully) spoke up and said: "I don't believe in Muhammad or the Koran! And this is why..."
But by your logic, you should stay out of the conversation, right? You don't believe in Muhammad....so whatever Muslims are doing shouldn't matter to you.
If you'd like me to address your other questions (most of which don't actually merit a response), then let me know.

I am convinced that a great many Atheists are seeking answers to their deepest questions. There are such answers and more, A whole cosmos of new questions will reveal themselves along with the answers. An eternity of new things await us all.

Your god shouldn't matter, but there are those he does matter to who demand we bow down before him. To base our lives on what they think he wants. Before we do, we demand the evidence of his existence. If you can not show it, then what your god wants is of no concern.
