So, where did Christians get the idea marriage is between 1 man and 1 woman?
Certainly not the Bible. It has multiple examples of protagonists taking as many wives as they can afford. King Solomon had as many as 700 and he wasn't brought down for polygamy, but introducing multiculturalism. Jacob has a couple of wives and a few kids from maids.
19 AnswersReligion & Spirituality5 years agoIf god is in control of everything, how comes he isn't held responsible?
I keep hearing theists complain about people "blaming god." But doesn't the amount of control and power he is said to have grant responsibility? For example creating Satan despite knowing he would rebel or allowing other religions to form leading to billions burning in Hell.

Would it not send a clear message to those who think they serve him through murder that it isn't the way?

1 AnswerComedy6 years agoIf the 13th chapter of Romans says God sets up governments and therefore must be obeyed?
Does that mean Christians are expected to take the Mark of the Beast as God set up the Anti-Christ?
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoChristians, if there is a heaven and you're so sure you're going there after you die, why are you scared of being murdered by atheists?
I see a stream of questions accusing atheists of being immoral people who are on the verge of murder. My question is if there is a wonderful afterlife, why are you scared?

10 AnswersPolitics6 years agoWhen strawmaning evolution, why do creationists use black people as the example of "Less evolved?"?
I notice when trying to make evolution about "more or less evolved" they always seem to use black people as the example of "less". Now I know evolution is only about differences and not a ladder, but it got me wondering.

6 AnswersPolitics6 years agoIf morality is objective, should gods not be made exempt from judgement?
I keep hearing arguments such as "Some things are always bad, therefore ????, therefore god." So I ask, if morals are set in stone. If some things are bad regardless, should we really be making excuses for gods just because "He/she is the god/goddess I follow and therefore always good even if they do this stuff."
2 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoWhy do theists complain about atheists on the R&S board?
At least we ask questions about religion and spirituality. They tend to ask questions about science that really should be on the science board.
4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoIf atheists are people who believe there are not gods as Christians claim, does that mean Christians worship Christian Bale?
If not, why not? Why do you get to define our word and not let others define yours?
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoWhere did Hare Krishnas get the idea Jesus was vegetarian?
In many of their books they make the claim what Jesus (and not the Christian god or Moses apparentl) meant by Thou Shalt Not Kill was animals too, They are aware there is no mention in the bible Jesus was against Passover Lamb right? A big Jewish thing and no mention of him stating anything against it.
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoTheists who claim atheism is a religion, what is your idea of a non-religious state?
Since you seem to be sure atheism is a religion somehow, what would a person have to be to be considered non-religious?
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoWhy are theists so desperate to shift the burden of proof?
I mean, they go to such lengths here. Redefining atheism to mean belief in no gods to make it a positive claim when it is actually a rejection of a claim.
Now we got questions to the effect of "I don't believe in atheism, therefore I don't have a burden of proof."
Are theists admitting when they do this that there is no evidence for gods at all?
