Where in centra Ohio can I get a snake sexed?

Just wondering if anyone knows. I don't plan on doing it any time soon. I haven't looked around--I just wonder if anyone knows of a place/person who can probe adult/sub-adult corn snakes.

Update:

unfortunately, we do not have a local reptile shop. I don't know of any reptile shops in Chillicothe or Colombus either, actually... And I am familiar with visual sexing, and most breeders I know of say that it is not reliable for corns.

There is a Reptile Expo in Colombus and I've heard great things about it. The other one is the Cleveland Reptile Show located in Brookpark ... I've been there a few times and have gotten some really nice snakes ... they have a bunch of awesome stuff there. Not too long ago I believe they had a two headed Corn snake there. Just look up reptile shows on Google and you should be able to find some info.

    Good luck!

Any experienced hobbyist can help you. You should be able to find someone through either your local reptile shop or herpetological society.

However, adult corn snakes can be sexed visually, without probing. A male has a long, thick tail, whereas the tail of a female is sharper and tapers off sharply.

There is a good photo on this page:

    * In that case, my suggestion is to have "most breeders you know of" help you sex them.

FYI, I have bred several hundred corn snakes, and have never had to probe an adult to determine its gender.
