Visit towns of the Dordogne River?
Would it be possible to visit the villages of the Dordogne river with a canoe or by boat instead of renting a car ? Also, Is there a car rental company in Sarlat?

There are no floating buses or tourism boats carrying a number of passengers all along the river like there are on the Rhine, the Rhone, or the Canal du midi.
Unless you have your own canoe you would be limited to hiring some along the way but it would be for a limited time and you would still need a car to go from one hire place to the other. http://www.frenchentree.com/france-lot-quercy-tour...
There are several car hire firms in Sarlat, including the major national companies.
