insulating an outside wall?

Can I insulate an outside wall without removing the old gyprox. I'd like to put up some 2x2's, put in insulation, a vapour barrier and new drywall without removing the drywall that is already there. Is this possible or will moisture form on the outside wall?

You can do that, but think about how to do the windows and electrical boxes.

I don't think you're talking about "DryWall" on the outside of the house. It's sheathing.

And I don't see why you can't put an extra layer of protection on your house. It'll just make the windows look like prison windows (kind of).

I'm not sure how or where the vapor barrier goes, but as long as you don't violate any codes or historical community guidelines, you SHOULD be able to do that. At least I think so.

    Hope this helps.
